Zingo Labs is a linguistically, socio-economically, culturally, and geographically diverse group.
To better support the vibrant collaborations that produce Zingo technologies we need to cultivate linguistic and cultural fluency. This will empower our active contributors to be even more effective.
This proposal would specifically invest in the linguistic, cultural, and networking skills, of core Zingo contributors in order to augment their already significant contributions.
We’ll share necessary personal details, with consent and where necessary, with the ZCG but are asking the wider community to trust that we’re investing in language skills where they’re most needed.
Specifics
Many Zingo contributors speak only English, or only Spanish. We are asking for two scholarships, one for English and one for Spanish to enable two Zingoistas the opportunity to become bilingual, and fulfill critical needs for our community.
ZCG funds are not meant to cover salaries for new employees. Additionally, allocating $48,000 solely for translation may not be the most efficient use of resources.
The purpose of ZCG funding is to support professionals who contribute to the Zcash ecosystem, rather than to provide for staff training or academic learning.
There are already active members within the global Zcash community, and it may be better to seek their cooperation.
This is just my personal opinion. There’s no doubt that Zingo Labs is an excellent organization contributing to the Zcash ecosystem.
Sorry not for translation, for language acquisition.
Please bear in mind that it’s 48K for a whole year.
This would not be for salary, the recipients would be expected to continue producing value for the Zcash community via their full-time ongoing roles. That’s a separate concern.
Thank you for your submission. After review by ZCG and allowing time for community feedback on the Forum, the committee has decided to decline both of these proposals (Github #101 & #102).
