There is a new coin that may be confusing users of Zcash.
The coin used to be called Moneta and recently changed their name to Zcoin. They are not affiliated with Zcash, nor are any of the developers of Zcash involved.
I won’t speculate about their timing or intentions but buyer beware, they are not even close to Zcash except in name.
From their slack : ‘’ ZCoin is an software implementation of the Zerocoin Protocol. ZCash is a software implementation of the Zerocash Protocol. They both use entirely different cryptographic schemes, but both end up achieving Zero Knowledge Private transactions (so the end result is essentially the same )‘’
My point exactly, they are not the same.
