Registration Period: Coinholder-Directed Retroactive Grants Program (Q1 2026)

We’re opening the registration period for ZEC holders to participate in the upcoming Coinholder-Directed Retroactive Grants Program for Q1 2026. Coinholders will need to move their ZEC into the Orchard pool during the registration window, which runs from Block 3,049,120 (Sep 1, 2025) through Tuesday, March 17 at 11:59 PM UTC.

I’ll share detailed instructions on how to vote before polling opens on Thursday, March 19, when coinholders will be able to vote for the proposals they believe should receive funding.

Please note that the safest way to participate in the poll is to first create a temporary wallet and transfer the ZEC you intend to register into that wallet’s Orchard address. Once the registration window has ended, move the ZEC out of the temporary wallet and back to your main wallet (or another secure wallet) before completing the poll. That way, when you enter the temporary wallet’s seed phrase to vote, the wallet will be empty, minimizing any risk of losing funds.

Lastly, transparent ZEC holders can also participate in the poll by signing a transaction, following the same process used in previous polls.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @aquietinvestor,

I just noticed that Zcash now allows coin holders to vote. We recently built a Discourse Governance Widget that displays live voting status—like countdown timers and quorum progress—directly inside forum discussion threads, so voters can follow a proposal’s progress without leaving the forum.

For some Zcash holders, it can be a bit opaque to tell exactly where a ZIP or SIV poll stands just by reading the thread. We’ve already deployed this in the Aave ecosystem to improve visibility and participation.

Would you be open to a quick DM or chat to see if this could be useful for Zcash? I’m happy to share a demo.

The registration period is now closed. The eligibility window covers Orchard notes created between Block 3,049,120 (Sep 1, 2025) and Block 3,276,154 (March 17, 2026, 11:59pm UTC). You may now move your funds.

The poll will open on Thursday, March 19th. We’ll share detailed instructions on how to participate in the coming days.

Quick Update: We’re working through some technical issues with the poll setup, which has taken a bit longer than expected. We’re aiming to have it live later tonight, but it may not go out until tomorrow. If that happens, we’ll extend the deadline by one day to March 31. I’ll continue to share updates as things progress.
