Sorry, this isn’t a real retroactive grant application. It’s just an idea. Wouldn’t it be cool if we could nominate other people for retroactive grants instead of them having to apply for it themselves? I would nominate Taylor and Tachyon for twice as big of a grant as they’ve each requested for themselves. I just think they asked for too little. People probably already understand that what they each did was hugely—immeasurably—important for all Zcashers, but what some folks might not realize is how rare such people are. Zcash is uniquely lucky to have such uniquely skilled people who are willing and able to take this kind of decisive action to protect all of us, with no guarantee of benefit to themselves. They’re asking for too little. We should use retroactive grants to reward and care for such people. Having such people in our community is a valuable strategic asset for Zcash.
(P.S. There are a whole bunch of other people who have contributed greatly in many ways, and whose loyalty and integrity and skills are also vital parts of Zcash. I don’t intend to leave them out by posting this. I just saw those two applications and thought to myself that they were too small.)
I like where you’re coming from here zooko. It sets a precedent that Zcash rewards important work. Very good signal for attracting and retaining top talent which I agree is hard to come by in this space.

Quite agree on this one. It’s hard to “ask” when the amount is big. On Taylor in particular, imo, he should get 3m$ for his disclosure and integrity. And would show implicitly zcash rewards industry standard even without explicit bounty program. He seemed to be aligned on such reward before his findings, on the bug bounty programs threads.
It is clear to me that there is a strong consensus within the community that Taylor and Tachyon should receive a higher reward than what they are currently asking for. So, I encourage them to modify their requests and ask for more. @earthrise@ebfull
