Hi,
TL;DR Just bought brand new machine. Can’t install AMDGPU-PRO
Steps Taken:
Install latest Ubuntu from USB drive. (Version 16.4.1 LTS)
Download latest AMDGPU package directly from AMD (amdgpu-pro-16.40-348864)
Run amdgpu-pro-install
Reboot
Kernel panic. Every time.
This is a very generic hardware setup, with a fresh OS install. Shouldn’t the AMDGPU package install without breaking the OS?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

before #4 did you check that you are the member of a video group?
if not, run video group command that is described in their manual , but BEFORE rebooting

I’ve tried it both ways (member of group, and not member of group.) Doesn’t appear to be the issue.
The kernel panic seems related to the DKMS somehow. The AMDGPU-PRO install actually creates a new initrd kernel image with some different setup.
