The Future of Zcash is Partly in Nigeria, so let us take it by solving Problems of Highly Populated People

Good day, first I would like to let us know that I count it a great privilege to put my thought together in this article for the advancement of our entire Zcash ecosystem, and my goal for this is to see that Zcash becomes the user first point of call in performing certain critical transactions as regard privacy and common good for humanity, in the largest populated country in Africa, called Nigeria. Another of my goal is to see that at least one million users are onboarded to Zcash and ten million transactions is being carried out on the Zcash protocol from the Nigerian space yearly, which will be via used case solutions to be built on Zcash protocol, the use of Zcash wallets and payments with ZEC for goods and services.

At this point, it is key we note that Nigeria has been the game changer for most foreign brands in the areas of brand popularity and high profit making, which can be termed as massive adoption and high value of those brands. Nigeria is a country with over 200 million people faced with much problems seeking for solutions in areas of Agriculture, Biodiversity Loss, Climate change, Community support, Decentralization, Digitization, Economy, Energy, Education, Entertainment, Food, Finance, Games, Gender balance, Healthcare, Insecurity, Income inequality, Job displacement, Knowledge Divide, Land dispute, Logistics, Money Movement, Mental Health Stigmatization, Nuclear Proliferation, Ocean Pollution, Pandemic Alert, Payments, Privacy, Quality Housing, Refugee crisis, Sanitation, Sports, Ticketting, Unemployment, Urbanization, Vote Counting, Vaccine hesitancy, Water scarcity, Xenophobia, Youth Restiveness, Zero hunger. The list is on and on but let me stop here.

The truth is, if we really want massive adoption for Zcash which is the ultimate goal of most blockchain protocol that I know, then the Zcash Foundation grant should support solutions built for public good to address some of these problems listed above. I am very much aware that the primary focus is “financial privacy infrastructure for public good”, which these solutions will be connected to.
From history, I discovered that there are 2 Ps strategies required to be massively adopted. They are Problem solving and Populated People. Thus, when a brand solve the problem a massively populated people, it surely lead to massive adoption by these people. Some popular examples are: Jesus Christ, Late King of Pop Music-Michael Jackson, and Coca-cola. These are brands that got massive adoption just because they were able to reach out to a large number of people in the world to solve their problems in the gospel, entertainment and thirst satisfaction. And their fame spread out like wild fire without much effort from their adverts and publicity. Same way Zcash protocol can be massively adopted if we start addressing problems of highly populated people.

Have we ever thought of situations where Zcash is been used by a large population directly or indirectly. Directly by users using Zcash wallets for transactions and using ZEC for payments as well as developers building on the Zcash protocol. Indirectly, by users using zcash third party solutions. This is where the game changer is to improve the worth and value of Zcash ZEC.

Recently, I travelled using a train and when I saw the crowd onboard the train, I asked myself this question which I am asking us today. what if everybody onboarding a train pay for their train ticket using ZEC & with utmost privacy? and what if the train tickets are issued to passengers as an NFT minted using Zcash?.

Again imagine if major entertainers or influencers are invited to Zcash carnival or Zcash show that is organized or sponsored by Zcash Foundation grant and access to these events is totally dependent on the Zcash protocol either as gatefee payments in ZEC or the ticket minted as NFT. What about a situation where all the entire university students pay their tuition fees with ZEC and they receive their payment receipts in Zcash NFTs.

I don’t know if Zcash Foundation is supporting projects like these ones mention above that involves multitude but I am aware of Zcash wallets been funded and maintained with large budgeting. Yes it is good to fund Zcash wallets, but while that is done, the ZF should also support corresponding activities that will make people in their large numbers make use of these Zcash wallets to hold and transact ZEC.

Project grant applications should be assess broadly towards achieving the Zcash massive adoption. Applicants be it from Nigeria, Brazil, Spain, Canada, Russia, India, Japan, America or England; should also be throughly assessed without sentiment based on capacity, competence and credibility. Do they have the right network to achieve the said project applied for? Do they really have the capacity to get it done? Have they done any similar project in the past? Among others.

I am Onose Oghenevwogaga, a blockchain community advocate and the founder of WittyHub in Nigeria. WittyHub is a member of the Innovation Support Network (ISN) which is a network of hubs in Nigeria. While the key focus of WittyHub is on Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Thus, I will end by saying that I and my team of web3 developers and innovators are very much ready to work with Zcash towards privacy advancement and writing the future of Zcash in Nigeria by developing and executing strategic plans for massive adoption of Zcash in Nigeria and beyond.

Thank you.

Greetings from Venezuela!

Great reflections. I agree with you very much.

Yes, it is true that we need the development (spectacular, it must be said) that is done in Zcash, wallets and protocol, but Zcash also needs to be massified, and Latin America and Africa are the perfect scenarios for that purpose.

i agree. imo we should focus mostly on bit less developed countries where banking is problematic.
i tink nigeria is even quite fast developin in recent years.
i dont know much still.
so wat do u see as main problems currently dat make it hard for Zcash to be adopted there?
is it the wallets ease of use, the sync problems? or ways to accept it as payment as merchants?
or someting else?
do u tink the wallets and user experience using Zcash is ready for marketing boost in ur country now or will it need to be polished still more to be even simpler to transact and maintain?

edit: do u have any idea about the average smartphone used in nigeria? cpu speed, the model and ram?
a range of sumting wud help probably test wallets on similar phones to know what needs improvement.

@zerodartz Thanks for your response. Nigeria is indeed a developing nation and her payment system is still evolving with much challenges to be resolved for instance financial privacy, high transaction fee for cross border payments, seamless crypto to fiat payments, and so on.

Secondly, it is key to note that Nigeria was one time the second placed country with the largest crypto transactions in the world, and as for me the main problem towards Zcash adoption in Nigeria are:
(i) Lack of continuous Zcash education for web3 developers to build used cases solution on the Zcash protocol. (ii) Lack of publicity of the Zcash protocol. (iii) Lack of community development activities from Zcash. It is also key we understand that the wallets are not the issue, although there is definitely need for improvement and upgrade as well as more wallets, neither is the problem that of the merchants but like I said it is the parts of the 3 problems I just mention.

Thirdly, the wallet and user experience for Zcash needs to be upgraded just like most wallets but the truth is Zcash wallets are better than some wallets we already have in the country, all we need for the massive adoption of Zcash is to addressed the 3 points I mentioned.

Fourthly, the average number of smartphone used in Nigeria is over 25 million with different brands and specifications. However, most of these smartphones can have zcash wallets in them without any challenge. Thank you.
