Hi Zeeps,
The subject of time had been on my mind much of this week.
I reflected on my life and what I have given myself to. I reflected on my days and the choices I make. In my reflection, two cups appeared before me. I poured my life’s time into each.
In the first cup, I poured time spent on distractions: social media feeds, mindless entertainment, experiences blurred by alcohol, engagement chasing, ticking off tasks that had little value but for which I had given some weight, fretting about things I cannot control, criticizing and judging others, wealth-building, attempting to please people, and seeking validation.
In the second cup, I poured time spent on things-that-matter: acts of love and kindness toward other people, learning, reading, reasoning, conversation over a good meal, exercising, writing, creating, wandering, dreaming, and building meaningful things that enrich others.
I drank from the first cup, expecting to taste bitterness, knowing that those things I had placed within it were not healthy. But I tasted nothing at all. There was nothing in the cup. It was as if the cup had a hole in the bottom. No matter how much I poured in, the cup remained empty.
I then picked up the second cup. It was full. I drank deeply from it. It remained full. I then poured more into it. It did not overflow, the elixir never breaching the rim. It was of infinite depths. And what is more, all those things I poured within it were perfectly miscible and had created something richer and more dynamic in flavor than any singular element. Magic.
You and I have so much to offer the world. The more we pour the time spent on things-that-matter into the magic cup, the more magic we have to draw upon. From those infinite depths, we can realize infinite outcomes.
Here’s where we spent time this week:
