I just wanted to share something I have been working on for the past month or so. I had a plan to build a mining rig in a suitcase that can be transported and be running while closed. It was important for it to be closed to limit the attention it would get and keep the components safer. The plan is to bring it with my when I am at the office (lower rates) or when I go on vacation.
It is a basic system with 4 1050ti FTW GPU, Gigabyte MB, 550PSU, 64gb SSD, and 4gb DDSR. I built the frame out of acrylic to keep heat absorption to a minimum. I have (4) 92mm fans cooling it at the moment.
It pulls around 750 sol with GPU temp at 60C, uses about 370 W, and gets to be about 113F inside the case.
Let me know what you think. All feedback is appreciated.
I have gone through security with large electronics other than laptops and after explaining what things are, there is not an issue. I used to tune ECUs in cars and would travel with numerous wires and an O2 bung. The bung could easily be a weapon, but they let me on numerous times.
I am using the suitcase more for travel by car, summer rental, and having a small rig at the office that my clients aren’t questioning.
Yeah…ah no. Just no. This will bring down so much heat on your ass at airports. Well I’m actually wanting you to try, because I really want to hear the story afterwards. Also, no ones going to be suspicious you bringing a suit case to work, no. lol
