Zcash Foundation will open a poll of the Zcash Community Advisory Panel (ZCAP) on NU7 on Thursday, August 27th. The poll will close on Monday, September 14th at 19:00 UTC.
This poll follows the NU7 Sentiment Polling from earlier this year and is intended to resolve the outstanding scope questions for NU7. The final list of questions is still being discussed, and we’ll publish it in full when the poll opens.
If you want a voice in this poll, now is the time to make sure you’re a ZCAP member. If you meet the eligibility criteria and aren’t yet on the panel, volunteer here before August 24th at 16:00 UTC. Anyone added after that date will be eligible for the following poll, not this one.
ZCAP members don’t need to do anything now. When the poll opens on August 27th, you’ll receive voting instructions from election@siv.org (check your Spam folder if you don’t see them).

We consider the results legitimate and representative of coinholders if at least 1,000,000 ZEC participates
In the most recent ZCAP vote ( ZCG Election) there was less than 50℅ participation. Could you help the community understand what ZF considers the level of participation would be representative for ZCAP?
Thank you for raising this. The ZCG election is a different case than NU polling. Let’s focus this discussion on the upcoming NU polling.
To answer directly: ZF has not set a figure we consider the threshold for a ZCAP result to be representative. We publish turnout with every poll and treat it as context for reading the result, rather than as a pass or fail line. Whether that’s right is a reasonable thing to examine, and not something ZF should settle on its own.
Two points worth restating:
ZCAP polls are advisory and non-binding. They surface sentiment and inform decisions, rather than deciding anything themselves.
The 1,000,000 ZEC figure was set by organizers of the coinholder vote. ZF has no comparable figure for ZCAP polls.
A few questions for discussion:
Would a minimum participation level for network upgrade polls help, or is publishing turnout each time and letting people judge for themselves better?
If a minimum would help, how should it be counted? A percentage of members voting, a fixed number of ballots, or something else?
Should one figure apply across a whole poll, or are individual questions better considered on their own, given how ballot counts have varied question to question in past polling?
For ZCAP members: what would make voting easier or feel even more worthwhile?
