Great news, can’t wait to see what comes out of this.

It would also be nice to see if the rollout of this initiative could be used as an opportunity to create a process that could be followed, so that other regions would have a clear understanding of the steps required if they would like to set up their own regional programs, who knows, in the future we may have a Zcash India group, a Zcash Nigeria group etc.

Dear Zcash Community.

We are super excited to share our first milestone - January/2023.

We have mostly been working this first month on building a lot of new things into the community, also as announced Zcon Voices will occur in Brazil, and we are working hard to make this event great.

Highlights:

  • Zcon Voices (Zcon Vozes Brazil): It has been an amazing journey with this event, we are managing and iterating daily.

We are excited to share our 3.1 milestone - March/2023.

The following report is about the Zcash Brazil 2023 proposal:

Highlights:

Zcon Vozes Brasil Overview: Last Saturday, March 18th, Zcon Vozes Brasil took place at Museu do Manhã, in Rio de Janeiro. The event was produced and sponsored by Zcash Foundation. Zcon in Brazil was a privacy event focused, had ~60 participants, and had a format of breakfast, talks, lunch, more talks, and panels, followed by a happy hour.

The Zcon Vozes Brasil event had as its main goal to disseminate the importance of privacy in the blockchain. During the lectures and panels, several cases and experiences were presented that highlighted the relevance of privacy for the protection of personal data and user security on the network. In addition, the event sought to demystify the idea that only criminals benefit from privacy, a lie that is often sold to society. While governments, banks, and companies have their privacy guaranteed, society is often educated to live under total surveillance, and Zcon Voices Brazil sought to encourage a critical and conscious debate about this fundamental issue.

The first lecture of Zcon Vozes Brasil counted with the presence of Marcos Lustosa and Rodrigo Schonell, both active in Coin ex, who discussed the importance of privacy in centralized (Cex) and decentralized (Dex) exchanges. During his presentation, Marcos emphasized the relevance of events like this to raise awareness in the community about the importance of privacy and the responsibility people should have with their data. He also emphasized that "although people still prefer convenience over privacy, the volume of crypto active trading on Dex still represents less than 10% of the total market volume, indicating that there is much work to be done to raise privacy awareness and expand opportunities in the industry.

During the event, all panels were essential to the public, and by feedback one of the most impactful talks was a presentation by Isabela from Tor, who highlighted how this privacy browser has been instrumental in helping people suffering from censorship in their countries. She cited the example of Iran, where many people, especially women, can only connect to the Internet through Tor. In addition, she mentioned that in some African countries, women are not allowed to go to college, but thanks to the privacy provided by Tor, these women have been able to attend college.

When asked about the criminal use of private networks, Isabela emphasized that one should not blame technology for the acts of malicious individuals. She stressed that prohibiting or criminalizing access to technology is a superficial solution to the problem and that it is important to remember that technology was created to benefit society as a whole, not just a few individuals. Therefore, the executive director of Browser Tor encouraged the responsible use of technology, which should be used to promote privacy and freedom of expression, in addition to fighting censorship and oppression.

Another panel addressed the importance of privacy in DAOs and showed the market that exists of “on-chain bribery”, where people can buy votes and influence decisions. Guiriba Research Paradiguima, a contributor to DAO, and João Kury, a contributor to Bankless Brazil, showed that the governance of Daos is still flawed, even though there are several types of governance. Privacy can help suppress the problems that exist in Daos, such as the influence of whales.

The event was also notable for its concern for the privacy of the participants. Two types of badges were distributed, one for those who allowed themselves to be filmed and another for those who preferred to maintain privacy. This initiative shows the importance of protecting personal data in an increasingly connected world.

Zcon Voices Brazil was Zcon’s first event outside of the US and showed the importance of privacy in Blockchain and how it can be used to change the system through web3 technology.

  • The day before the event:

Coordinated the entry of the furniture, banners, and totems making sure that the positions were correct and everything was expected with all the suppliers.

  • Event Day:

Align the buffet service, making sure that the support area reserved for them was as planned Reception and identification of the guests

Make sure that the services of buffet and drinks were working well Delivery of POAPs

After the event making surveyed the event area to be sure that there was no damage to the museum

  • We saw a huge potential in Leo Finance and made contact with the responsibility for the Marketing to future partnerships between Zcash Global and Leo Finance. We’re planning new things with them in English & PT

  • We made some updates on the Zcash Global Server, including a category to help the community with questions and issues using any of these wallets. Our plan for these rooms is to connect with the element rooms and telegram to merge all communities.

We are excited to share our 6.1 milestone - June/2023.

The following report is about the Zcash Brazil 2023 proposal:

The growing Zcash community in Brazil is actively engaging in discussions, organizing meetups, and sharing knowledge through online forums and social media platforms. This surge in interest reflects a recognition of the importance of privacy in financial transactions and highlights the increasing role of cryptocurrencies in the Brazilian market.

Highlights:

  • We attended Blockchain Festival São Paulo + Meetup, and we gave away tickets to the event.
  • We had a TT Spaces with ShapeShift to talk about Privacy and Decentralization.
  • We had a Community Call with Conrado to teach the Community about Zebra, plus we wrote a Summary about Zebra.
  • We made a community call to explain the importance of security using a Ledger, implementing the Z-Address in NANO +, and raffled off a Ledger for the community.
  • We attended a Podcast at Free2Z.
  • We created a voting room to get feedback about the next events on Zcash Brazil/Global.
  • We synced the Zingo Room on Zcash Global with the Matrix.
  • New logo in production.
  • We partnered with the Privacy Map channel until December/2023 https://youtu.be/xOf7iSzaJLs - June video.
