Key Takeaways:

Open Grant Proposals

  • Zcash Nigeria 2025
    • This project will advance the growth of a well-informed, privacy-focused Zcash community in Nigeria by expanding education, outreach, and adoption efforts. Building on recent progress, the team will create localized, accessible resources in multiple languages, host grassroots events, and run targeted social media campaigns to raise awareness about financial privacy and Zcash’s unique features. By fostering cross-community collaboration, engaging directly with merchants to encourage ZEC acceptance, and offering practical training and incentives, the project aims to dispel misconceptions, strengthen community connections, and lay the groundwork for long-term, sustainable adoption of privacy-preserving digital currency in Nigeria. Requestor is asking for $9,600. ZCG members are asked for their input and vote.
      • Artkor: They constantly demonstrate activity, plenty of videos, many new users and excellent engagement with Zcash’s key messages. I enjoy following their progress and at this point I see no compelling reason to reject their new request. I approve.
      • DecentralistDan: I agree with Artkor. They’ve been quite active, their Twitter is solid, they seem to have a good team and they’re engaged across the ecosystem. I approve.
      • ZeroDartz: I support them, they’ve been quite creative and doing good for now. Their recent real life meetups have been great to see. Would like to see their community become even more vocal on more platforms and talk with more local on the ground businesses also. I approve.
      • Jason: I approve this grant too. They’ve been doing really well and Chidi is doing a great job leading the project. I want to see it continue to grow and evolve.
      • Gguy: I support it too.
      • Approved, monthly updates.
  • Zcash integration into the Chainspect analytics platform
    • Chainspect will integrate Zcash into its leading blockchain analytics platform, adding real-time scalability and decentralization metrics—such as TPS, transaction volume, block time, finality, Nakamoto coefficient, miner distribution, and hashrate—alongside 50+ other tracked networks. This inclusion will provide the Zcash community, developers, researchers, and investors with an unbiased, publicly accessible dashboard for benchmarking network performance, running side-by-side comparisons, and tracking trends over time. With over 60K monthly active users, 1M+ monthly impressions on X, and citations from Bloomberg, Forbes, and Cointelegraph, Chainspect’s reach and credibility will boost Zcash’s visibility in Web3, support adoption, and ensure that its network fundamentals are accurately represented to the broader blockchain ecosystem. Requestor is asking for $46,000. It’s too early to vote so ZCG members are asked to provide their initial thoughts on this request.
      • Artkor: Most of the metrics listed here like mining stats, decentralization indicators, block times, hash rate, already exist across dedicated sites. At this stage blocks are far from full and transaction throughput is not a bottleneck for the network right now. In general I don’t see the need for the requested money.
      • Multiple members: Well said!
      • DecentralistDan: We already have dashboards for the things that are relevant. It seems we get a lot of dashboard grants that we feel would not be impactful. I think this falls into that category. I’m not in support of funding this grant. Too Expensive.
      • Gguy: I think grants like this, at this amount, are too expensive.
      • ZeroDartz: Also one thing to think about is we don’t know the transaction volumes inside the shielded pools which is one weird thing about privacy coins. You never know what’s going on exactly except just the transaction counts. So in some ways this sort of dashboard isn’t that useful for us right now. And we have some dashboards already. This is too high of a budget also.
      • Jason: If any of these metrics are meaningful we could see if ZecHub could integrate them into what they provide.
      • Remains open for comment.
  • Ad-Priva
    • AdPriva is developing a privacy-first, AI-powered advertising and affiliate platform that replaces invasive tracking with user-owned, blockchain-verified data and Zcash’s shielded transactions. Users choose the ads they see, engage on their own terms, and earn direct stablecoin or ZEC rewards—verified on-chain without exposing their identity. Advertisers gain cryptographic proof of genuine engagement, eliminating ad fraud, while publishers monetize without cookies or intrusive tracking, all in compliance with global privacy laws. By using Zcash as the settlement and verification layer, AdPriva will create a transparent yet private ad marketplace that aligns user, advertiser, and publisher incentives, supports global participation, and meets growing demands for privacy and regulatory compliance. Requestor is asking for $150,000. It’s too early to vote so ZCG members are asked to provide their initial thoughts on this request.
      • DecentralistDan: It’s very expensive. The onboarding numbers seem unrealistic. Not supportive ATM, but I’ll review further.
      • Artkor: I like the name they came up with for this platform but that’s about it. I wasn’t interested. It all seemed generated to me, including the answers for the questions on the Forum. I think there is a high probability that we will just lose money.
      • Gguy: This unfortunately feels like a “trust me bro” grant application where there is no evidence they have the capability to deliver.
      • ZeroDartz: Yeah, same. I didn’t find enough information about the team and their answers really didn’t help much. So, there’s no way I could trust them with that big budget. Even though I like the idea, but Brave does something similar already. I currently don’t find this proposal very attractive.
      • Remains open for comment.

Brainstorm Session Follow-Ups

  • Ledger
    • Ledger posted their plan for a retroactive grant here.
  • Defi Alchemist
    • ZCG is considering posting an RFP for a “Defi Alchemist” role that would help ZCG review and consider defi grant applications that want to integrate Zcash. Dan is drafting the RFP based on an old, never-filled ECC role. More to come on this shortly.
  • Dark Prague Sponsorship
    • Dark Prague is a conference in the Czech Republic in October. Frank will be speaking about Zcash and ZCG is interested in sponsoring the event. More to come on this shortly.
  • DC Privacy Summit
  • Transaction Parser Libraries
*ZCG is considering putting out an RFP for this work. More information to follow.
