Hello all, I’m Emilio Navarro (University of Colima) and together with my colleague Alejandro we’ve been working on educational platforms for our university. One year ago we created NortEdu, a portal where students earn extracurricular credits by completing online courses. Through meetings with the University of Colima, the University of Guadalajara and the Monterrey Institute of Technology, we learned how to provide accredited courses and hackathons for students.
We see a huge opportunity to adapt this model for Zcash. Our idea is to build a multi-language platform (Spanish/English) branded for Zcash that offers courses, webinars and hackathons across universities in Mexico and Latin America. Students would log in with their university account, learn about Zcash, cryptography and web‑development, and earn official credits or certificates. We would organise on‑campus talks to launch the platform, set up Zcash clubs, and hold hackathons where the best teams receive small grants and mentorship to continue building on Zcash.
Our team already has a working platform, experience creating content (courses on HTML/CSS/JS) and strong relationships with education departments. We’d like to know if the community would support funding this initiative. In future we aim to open the portal to the public, allowing anyone to learn about Zcash and contribute projects.
Why it matters: This proposal would help grow the Zcash developer community in Spanish-speaking regions, provide young builders with hands-on experience, and create a pipeline for new open‑source projects. We’re ready to provide more details and adjust the scope based on feedback. Thanks for your time and we look forward to your thoughts!
