Great question, I’d be curious to know what fellow ZEC stakeholders are thinking about this.
Personally, I never really thought about it much but I like some aspects of libertarianism. Yet, I am not sure it exactly fits my philosophy. While I don’t necessarily “elevate some principal over and above individual rights/freedom”, I do enjoy things in balance. I see modern societies a little bit too much on the individualism spectrum and I just do not find this inspiring. Now indeed, libertarianism and individualism are two different things, but to me, they are a fair bit related. Which is to say that I don’t mind having less rights and freedoms if what I have is still reasonable, and it enables the (ideally one day) network state I live in to prosper. Balance.
The post of ceb9ceb4ceb9cf89cf84 on crypto and family helped me a bit with that reflection.
It’s funny, I’ve been around crypto for a while and I can’t remember anyone sharing my views on this. Personally, anything I want to give, I do it while I’m alive. The rest (as it pertain to Zcash) will therefore benefit fellow ZEC holders as my tokens will hopefully remain locked forever. It doesn’t mean that I don’t love my family obviously. Simply, while I’m here I want to help them for anything regarding their safety, health and education. After that, I’m happy thinking that eventually, people believing in, or needing privacy, will benefits from my funds being locked.
Like I said, I never thought much about the libertarianism philosophy, so maybe I misunderstand it. Feel free to let me know if I’m a libertarian or something. ![]()
