Anyone down to host a Zcashd memorial service/party?
Zaino has been stable on the Zec.rocks server infrastructure at our testing endpoints, it’s time for us to start deprecating Zcashd.
Zec.rocks will begin shifting our production endpoints over to Zaino+Zebra, deprecating Lightwalletd+Zcashd, starting at 17:00 UTC on April 18 (tomorrow).
The first production endpoints to run Zaino will be those with the lowest traffic according to DNS queries: “me.zec.rocks” and “sa.zec.rocks”.
We will continue to gradually roll out Zaino likely at a pace of one endpoint per week. The global “zec.rocks” endpoint will continue to be hosted by lightwalletd for at least another month.
If you experience any issues on our Zaino endpoints please report them here.
We are prepared to quickly roll back these deployments if needed, and will continue maintaining zcashd nodes globally until NU7.
Please continue to help us test wallet functionality and report issues here. You can do this today by changing your wallet’s server to the “zaino.unsafe.zec.rocks:443” endpoint, ideally with an empty testing wallet just to be careful.
In terms of the “.unsafe” in this Zec.rocks subdomain - what’s unsafe about it? We do not log IPs on any of our endpoints, but we have non-IP debug logging enabled on our “.unsafe” endpoints to assist Zcash development teams.
A heartfelt thank you to the dozens of contributors who have helped Zcash make it to this point! Our new stack of software written in Rust will enable many innovations to come, with new security assurances and a faster pace of development.
Known wallet issues with Zaino right now: (I will edit this if more are reported)
