A question of how many chains are there actually?

From this error.... it tells me that there are multiple chains working in tandem... Can someone clarify?

Give it a few seconds to load

I understand, and know this. But why imply this erroneous statement? Say Try again later. Or needs to load.

Aka misleading...................

This message is unchanged from upstream Bitcoin. The message is accurate: in any block chain protocol, the set of blocks visible to each node forms a tree. The "best" chain is the chain from the genesis block to the leaf with the highest overall work, in which all of the blocks satisfy the consensus rules.

It's true that this detail of how block chains work doesn't necessarily need to be exposed to users. Bitcoin has many messages like this, and it would take some time to clarify them all. I don't know what priority we will put on doing that.
