Announce Polls in Wallets

Indeed! Two twings:

  1. Ledger is not Zcash at the core (like Ywallet, Zingo, Zashi, etc.) so I don’t think it is reasonable to expect those outside of our ecosystem to display or send notifications to our users. It’s not impossible; we should try, but while setting our expectations accordingly.

  2. Ledger being a cold wallet, it can be expected that most people put their tokens there and forget about those for a long while. Again, the message / notification would still be good, but we wouldn’t reach most users.

I see Ywallet as the perfect power-user wallet, you can literally vote from within, so having notifications about upcoming votes doesn’t seem abhorrent. Obviously @hanh as a maintainer would have discretion over what updates to push, but should he agree with this, I’m confident in his judgment to push the most important events without bias.

Other wallets too, should consider pushing key dates to token holders. To be honest, I am absolutely convinced that this is going to happen. The current communication consisting in disclosing massively disrupting changes only on the forum and on ECC/ZF websites is absolutely unsustainable.

Take a look at Nova wallet (Polkadot / Kusama), the votes are pre-loaded (no need to provide a url, etc) and you can vote in a few seconds. Nothing is preventing us to making things easier for our users, or maybe a lack of vision somewhere.

I’m posting a quick reminder that a consequential vote is ongoing for Zcash, while most Zcash users are unaware. (hopefully, if we only have 200 users we have bigger problems)

Will any wallet developer step up to notify their users that it’s possible to participate in governance? No links necessary, I’ll write the code and put in the PR. What wallet wants its users’ voices to be heard? Anyone?
