What I wish for: the ability for people to optionally include a badge with their direct messages or social media posts (including posts on this forum), and the badge comes with a zero-knowledge proof that they own at least a certain level of ZEC.
Great community culture vibe, but the final badge requiring over 10 million is unrealistic and not very friendly/inclusive.
Suggestion, Remove the first badge and shift them down sequentially—for example, make the dragon badge available at over 100k (instead of the super high threshold). This way it’s more approachable and rewarding for active members without feeling gatekeep
This looks nice and very creative. I suggest to add badges that recognize meaningful contributions, not just activity. For example, a Node Runner badge for members who actually run and support a node, Bug Hunter for reporting confirmed issues, and Helpful Human for people who regularly help new users. It would make the badges feel more meaningful and encourage participants.
I think starting with zats would be fun too, and include more folks. World zatoshi would be from zats 1 to 100000000. Maybe have cut offs around the number 21:
I mentioned it before but if this is something that users are interested in it’s easy to setup groups, badges, and even VIP access only spaces on the forum.
I would have to rely on someone like @dismad to do the on chain verification and add them manually, but that’s not difficult.
I think the idea is great! Imagine if the badges were based on GitHub contributions, activities, and years of involvement in the ecosystem. Given your original status and whether you’re a co-founder, you must have some impressive badges. What could those badges look like?
Railgun has a Zero-Knowledge (ZK) NFT, which might be a solution. Alternatively, we could implement badges directly into GitHub. Users would log in with their GitHub accounts, allowing the system to analyze their contributions and automatically assign badges. This approach simplifies the process, similar to the X analyzer, and adds a gamification element that could be used for governance.
Plus, stay tuned for the @shieldedmark episode on March 24th, too.
@zooko
Badges are a powerful way to generate culture and belonging in this community, plus the ability to show you’re engaging with a verified stakeholder, not a disconnected stranger, without revealing too much.
As stated before by other people, how about we push it further: badges for contribution, not just holding? I’m part of the core team of Valocracy (search for valocracy manifesto), a governance framework where reputation is earned through effort: building, creating, participating. Not bought like in the usual DAO.
It separates economic and governance power through a dual-token system: a transferable economic token and a soul-bound governance token that is diluted if you stop contributing. No permanent rulers, only active builders. We’re now adapting it specifically for Zcash. The proposed badge idea could be the entry point to something much bigger.
They are not badges. But Zcash Shielded Assets are pretty nice. Hey all you badge collectors come sign up for Cyber-Nomad Drop. Post or DM your Unified Address.
