For those on Android here is how you can update to latest version:

Click and hold the tan Ywallet icon to get this menu, then click on the i with the circle around it.

You then click on the App details in store button

Which yields the following:

As you can see, I have an update to apply. If you wait for the auto-update, this is very delayed. You must check it manually.

Here is my current version:

Success! Thanks for this @hanh  :zebra: :student:

Well, it looks like it worked. I voted 100% to ZCG . I hope the interpreters can read between the lines and see that I meant 50% deferred lockbox and 50% miners. How do I vote for 50% deferred lockbox? When can I spend my ZEC without changing my vote power?

it is anonymous and fungible, so…

You can spend your zec now that the snapshot is taken. it won’t affect your voting power.

Hi everyone. We understand there has been some confusion about the Dev Fund coinholder poll. I’ve put together the following information to answer some of your questions and help you understand how to participate. If you have any questions that are not addressed below, please let me know. I will update this post so that all information is in one place.

Am I eligible to participate?

To be eligible to participate, you must have moved ZEC into the Orchard pool or refreshed your notes during the registration period that occurred from blocks 2,540,000 to 2,557,150.

What version of YWallet do I use?

You must use YWallet v1.6.2+7. If you’re seeing the below error, you need to update your app:

Here’s where to get the updated app:

Desktop

Android

Download from the Google Play store or follow @dismad’s instructions below:

iOS

Unfortunately, the updated version of the YWallet app is not yet available for iOS. The app needs to be published by the Ycash Foundation. Hanh has contacted @hloo, and we hope it will be updated in the coming days. We will notify everyone once it is available.

The iOS app is now available:

When does the poll close?

This test round of polling will be open until block 2,566,540, which should occur around July 6, 11:59pm UTC.

What is the url for the poll?

https://vote.zcash-infra.com/devfund

How do I vote?

Here are some resources that will walk you through how to cast a vote:

Where can I see the results?

You can view the poll results at the link below. The results are updated in real-time and display the total amount of ZEC voted.

Can I change or delete my vote?

While it is technically possible to create a feature that allows users to change or delete their vote, YWallet’s mechanism is designed to prevent this. Once a vote is submitted, it cannot be changed or deleted. Votes are binding, similar to a US presidential election where, once you cast your ballot, you cannot go back and change or delete your vote.

Disclaimer

As Hanh previously mentioned, the coinholder voting mechanism has not been audited or subjected to a code review. For added safety, the ballot is not signed with your spending key.

This is an experimental poll, so please participate at your own risk.

Is there a way to check if a vote was broadcast/submitted?

ZF doesn’t like coin-weighted voting because they have never tried to put any of their coins into a shielded pool? :speak_no_evil:

Shielded coinbase enforces that the first stop for all new coins is a shielded pool. What transparent funds are you referring to?

I’ve confirmed the answer to this question with @hanh and included it in the FAQ above:

The first stop for ZF is a transparent address?

All of the ZF Dev Fund ZEC lands in a transparent address. Where does it go from there? I’ve always assumed it gets custodied on a major exchange like Gemini or Coinbase and sold off. Is this not true? Does ZF move it to a shielded pool and sell it to someone with a shielded address? Do they self-custody in a shielded pool? What details of this process have been made public in the past and what can be made public now? I’d be curious to know.

Anyone got access to chainanalysis?

The first transaction after the coinbase transaction (the mint, maybe?) is always to a shielded pool, at least since blossom, I think (gotta check that). Whomever holds this shielded address is unknown on-chain, at least. It created some issues for people who were mining to certain hardware wallets that were unable to create shielded tx’s, they would have had to migrate their seed to spend out.

All transparent coinbase funds must be shielded before they can be spent. So whoever controls the keys of these addresses, whether it be representatives of ZF or a custodian, must send them to a shielded address, by consensus rules. They might then immediately deshield them, or do something else.

Indeed. Good thing this vote isn’t binding. I don’t think anyone agrees miners should get less than 20% of the block reward. I suspect a lot of people forgot that miners need votes to retain their reward.
