If you’re going to do a benchmark to compare to CPU performance, be sure to use whatever Equihash parameters are going to be used on mainnet. The parameters make a huge difference.

How would you compare the Zcash algorithm with the ETH algorithm?

How do you think rx480 8gb cards would perform with this algorithm?

If there is a good chance to perform well, I would be interested in offering my 1 BTC (about this, I would like to understand, will the people that have the willing to pay have any advantage, or if Ampy agrees to open source the software it will just be available for everyone straight away?)

The z9 release blog announcement said no more “consensus protocol” changes until after 1.0, which I interpreted to mean they would be reluctant to change things like n,k. In my GPU vs CPU estimate I assumed the slow GPU cores were a factor instead of a real bottleneck. If they are a bottleneck, the parallel radix sort or similar method will probably be required which means the GPU will use more electricity per hash and not be able to do more than 4x to 6x if it is a reasonable cost GPU that uses 8x more electricity than a CPU, assuming the CPU miner is optimized, which it it not (yet).
