🦸‍♀️ Cypherpunk Zero NFT Megathread

Any restart will require a 1:1 airdrop to previous users, because everyone is the one who suffers the loss.

Pre-hack NFT holders only. We can use the snapshot that was taken.

If you do 1:1 after the hack you solve nothing by just giving the hacker back the same NFTs they stole in the first place.

Is it possible that any feasible date would still be far off if it’s after the release of ZSA?

do you have any links to explain the zcash zsa? I havent heard about it yet. Edit: I just looked into it. Im very interested in this idea! I thought zcash was a niche but this makes it seem like zcash will be the foundation of web3

Be patient with the development. It’s going to take time to achieve these ideas of advanced functionality

I really want to make sure i get too keep my Ethereum mint of the nft. Is there any chance the hacker could still steal more. If so is there anything I can do to protect them?

Yes, as the token contract cannot be updated more NFT’s can still be stolen.

I am wondering how people feel about a “creator fund” for the nft that would go to a zcash charity. I originally liked that the nft didn’t have a creator fund. But I think that it is a cool feature and can be used for something unique.

NFT has begun to recover. When will the new chain airdrop journey begin?

it’s not dead. I still use my pfp

(I responded to another message first)

Personally, I’m waiting for the launch of ZSA, and after that, someone from the devs team will propose a re-release on the Zcash blockchain.

The floor price on opensea shot up :face_with_monocle:

Seems like an immediate solution would be to wrap them like they did with the V1 Cryptopunks

It’s Time for ECC to Restore the Cypherpunk Zero NFT — A Matter of Responsibility and Trust

Hello everyone,

I’d like to bring attention back to something that has been forgotten for far too long — the Cypherpunk Zero NFT project.

This NFT series was created by ECC (Electric Coin Company), and on its official website, it stated the following:

“Align incentives of the NFT holders such that they each become a steward for ECC/Zcash brand values.”

“Trust that we’ve got some amazing, exclusive perks in the pipeline for NFT holders — some expected, some unexpected. Buckle up and join us for the ride.”

These were not just marketing phrases — the project was meant to symbolize the link between Zcash’s philosophy and the original cypherpunk spirit. It carried meaning beyond digital art; it represented a promise of shared vision and stewardship.

However, due to an Ethereum-related security issue, the NFT contract was hacked, and ECC lost the management keys, making it impossible to respond or restore ownership.

At that time, At the time, ECC did not recover NFT due to lack of funds. Later, they vaguely mentioned that “once ZSA (Zcash Shielded Assets) are launched, we may consider restoration.” Yet, since then, no further action or update has ever been given.

The situation is different now.

Zcash’s value has risen significantly since then, and ECC’s financial position is far more stable today.
So, isn’t it reasonable to say that restoration on the Ethereum chain could — and should — finally be possible?

ECC still holds the snapshot data from before the hack, which could be used to restore the NFT to their rightful owners on Ethereum.
Later, when ZSA are fully implemented, the NFT could be migrated to the Zcash chain in a well-planned transition.
Even with the launch of ZSA, it will take a very long time to recover NFT from the Zcash chain.

We are not asking for anything grand or complicated.
We simply ask: please return our NFT.

It’s not about profit — it’s about responsibility, integrity, and trust.
Restoring the Cypherpunk Zero NFT would show that ECC stands by its original promises and respects its early supporters.

Now is the right time to do what’s right.

We really don’t want anything else. Simply give us back our personal NFT.
If ECC absolutely must issue them on the Zcash chain, please develop a plan and announce it. We are ardent supporters and community members of Zcash. We sincerely hope ECC will quickly make a statement on this matter.

(I wrote this using a translator, so please understand if it sounds unnatural.)

Agree :100:.

Would love to have my Zeros back even if only for nostalgia. It’s yet another piece of Zcash lore.

I totally agree :100:!
If the Zeros ever come back, that nostalgia could spark something powerful — reconnecting the history, the people, and the spirit that started it all.

we have to restore them - the art is cool and theres potential for future developments with these characters. but until they are restored theres no point in building on these characters anything as it doesnt Honor the NFT holders in any way.

Lets Honor the Cypherpunk Zero NFT holders by restarting this on Ethereum now and later we migrate to ZSAs if its reasonable to do so.

This could also be later retroactively paid maybe by coinhodler voting or some other way.

And in current situation the relaunch shouldnt cost that much afaik. Or will each NFT holder have to manually claim the new ones? Either way the gas fees are very low.

Totally agree with you! :100:
The art and characters still have so much potential — but without restoration, its incomplete.
Relaunching on Ethereum first makes perfect sense, and later migration to ZSA can be done when the time is right.
We believe that ECC will respond very soon.
There’s no better time than now!
