Funding For Zingo Collaborations at Z|ECC Summit

Two Zingoista devs have paid for travel and accommodations at Z|ECC Prague.

Our total expenses, which we will detail to the ZCG are:

$6121.99

We’re asking the community to support this collaboration opportunity.

We’ll report on our efforts and results after the summit.

I think community support for this is a horrible use of funds unless it is stated that the collaborations being sought are shielded only.

In the past funds have gone to support transparent integrations creating more barriers to moving forward (depreciation t-addresses)

This is a hard no for me. Please don’t support spending money to hold Zcash back with transparent shackles (t-address collaborations).

Similarly I think future ZCG committee members should be asked about their support of t-address integrations or depreciation. We should seek to increase the involvement of those that promote Zcash privacy development not hold it back with cheap and easy t-address support.

As stated here, where our work touches on t-addresses we are focused on efficient deprecation of t-addresses.

Since we’re not currently planning to support new transparent features, I don’t think this criticism is particularly relevant to us.

Maybe folks who don’t want DEX-support right now, because it leverages transparent script, can start a more relevant thread making their case.

You are asking for funding to travel and create more collaborations and have a history of supporting Zcash transparent script DEX support so this is an appropriate thread to share the perspective of someone who values Zcash shielded features (only).

Your linked post refers to UA problems and the wallet work you have done to help mitigate the damage. This funding request however is for travel expenses to form more collaborations.

If your funding request was edited to make it clear you will not support any future transparent script integrations, I would gladly withdrawal my objection!

If this is a form of compensation for actual expenses without any excesses or other natural regular needs (such as meal expenses), then I personally am willing to support the coverage of costs related to organizing such technical meetings within our community, as they are necessary for coordinating tasks.

Especially now, when we are transitioning to a new infrastructure and several teams besides ECC are involved in this transition. I really hope that the community understands the importance of this task. Face-to-face meetings speed up implementation, and we have seen this hypothesis confirmed more than once. Right now, the community is losing far more significant resources due to the delay in the update. Time is very valuable to all of us.

I would just like to add that I hope @joshs and the team choose the best location for the meeting every time. And this will allow participants to save community funds.

I’d also like to announce that ZCG will propose a set of guidelines for the community on this type of spending, to set clear standards if funding from this source is needed - since these expenses may arise on a regular basis.

It’s hotels and plane tickets only.

Of course, we’ll provide receipts to ZCG operations.

We do a cost benefit analysis, factoring in flight and hotel costs, travel time and safety.

For non-ECCers, we generally pay for fees related to renting the conference room (snacks, coffee/sodas) and lunches. We also host a happy hour one evening.

Participants must cover their own hotel and travel expenses.

Thank you for clarifying that.

@zancas at the most recent meeting, ZCG voted to approve this proposal. Congratulations!

Congrats, @zancas !

Members of the global Zcash community, developers, ambassadors, community builders, among others, should actively participate in these types of events.

It is a way not only to raise awareness of Zcash, but also to provide internal feedback on everything that is being done in the global blockchain ecosystem.

Good luck with this event!
