Binance does not want to accept funds from shielded addresses as part of their compliance measures. This is why we are working on implementing TEX Addresses. Please see the OP and the below thread for additional information:
Glad to hear it! When I messaged them yesterday, they mentioned they were working on processing the return and that it shouldn’t take 30 days. It seems they were able to expedite the refund.
Update: Gemini exchange has successfully implemented TEX support. Thanks to @joshs for coordinating with their engineering team and @artkor for helping with testing.
I don’t have any additional information regarding the removal of the monitoring tag at this time. As I mentioned earlier this month, Binance rejected my request to remove the tag, and we observed similar outcomes with other privacy coins, such as Firo, that have implemented exchange address types. Decisions about monitoring tags are made on a quarterly basis, with the updated list expected to be published in early October. I will continue to follow up with Binance about removing the monitoring tag and will keep the community informed if we receive any new information.
No, Binance is currently the only exchange that generates TEX addresses. Gemini has implemented the necessary parsing logic to support withdrawals to Binance and prevent transaction failures.
