Multisig

I read something about multisig on Zashi in the future. Is there any good resources to start learning about it?

Hey we created a non-production demo that shows how it works with zcashd! New demos coming soon when zallet offically adds the needed functionality. :student:

For learning the details a great resource is:

Frost shielded multisig is built into Zkool as well the ZF demo.

Step by step guide to create a multisig with Zkool in the Frost section:

Pretty straightforward, the only thing I struggled a bit to understand at first is that the address you need to provide for the multisig is not per se the address of your funding account (probably a derivative I guess). So everyone has to be at the same stage and then share all the addresses generated between them (also not sure if these addresses are still valid if you close your Zkool wallet).

If you do it alone for yourself, you would probably need several computers (not 100% sure about that).

That’s correct. The ZF Frost demo also requires at least 3 different (terminal) sessions and, like zkool, one of them is the coordinator. The zkool method uses Zcash memos as a required form of secure communication between the participants to share information (and also signal or something eq), whereas the ZF demo uses a custom server and the participants log on and only use it for secure comms. Otherwise, they’re the same thing. If everyone in the frost group kind of knows what to expect then yeah it’s certainly easier than doing it by yourself.

This is a video of the ZF frost demo and is still accurate. The only difference is you have to deploy the server yourself, somehow. There are ways but for at home stuff w/ Zcash, a lot of people use tailscale and it can work for this purpose.

You can run multiple copies on zkool on the same computer as long as they use different wallet files.

The address you share with other is an internal account created for the purpose of secure communication between parties. It is not your funding account because I dont want to pollute its tx history with a bunch of frost messages.
