Hello, Zcash community!
I’d like to propose the creation of a centralized initiative for localizing the most popular Zcash wallets — such as Zashi, YWallet, eZcash, Zingo! and Zcashd — into 10+ major world languages (Spanish, Ukrainian, Chinese, Hindi, French, Arabic, Turkish, Russian, and others).
Goal
To make Zcash more accessible and user-friendly for new users around the world.
When the coin’s price increases, interest from new users naturally grows — but language barriers often make it difficult for them to navigate the wallets or understand the technical aspects of privacy features and shielded transactions.
Idea
Create a central platform for translations and validation, where local communities, ambassadors, and volunteers can collaborate.
Possible technical solutions:
-
Crowdin – a popular platform for collaborative software localization.
-
GitHub – through centralized repositories dedicated to translation files, as done by many open-source projects.
This would ensure consistency in terminology, higher translation quality, and easier integration across all official Zcash wallets.
Benefits
-
Accessibility for users who don’t speak English.
-
Better understanding of shielded transactions and privacy-related features.
-
Organic user growth across regions without additional marketing costs.
-
Strengthened trust and loyalty toward the Zcash ecosystem.
-
Involvement of regional ambassadors who could coordinate translations for their local languages.
What do you think about this idea?
Has anyone from the dev or regional coordination teams worked on similar localization efforts before?
Would it make sense to form a working group or small grant initiative to launch a centralized localization process?
