Shielded Support for Ledger Hardware Wallets (NanoS+, NanoX)

Exactly. This is the perpetual risk to Zcash as it currently exists. Two major organizations act as the gatekeepers of the protocol/ and of the “recognized” interfaces for technical work with other crypto organizations (like Ledger, Trezor, Binance, et al)

Act like a company, get treated like one. Everything else is theater. Also, if you are going to go down the rabbit hole – how about you do a report on the affiliations of Least Authority and the Wilcox family?

For 1, Zingo Wallet, and its ~hand waving conspiracy theorist~ seemingly indiscriminate funding. That if not an obvious red flag, is at the minimum a flagship case-study needing further investigation.

The communities generous funding of more than 6 different wallet products, that all seek to do the same thing and serve the same user base, in a broad sense should be a red flag (regardless of any familial or immediate social relations to Zooko, et al in leadership roles at Bootstrap/ ECC/ ZF).

What business logic for a project like Zcash could justify the splitting of talent, focus, funding, and marketing across so many copy-cat projects?

I’m all for the ecosystem growing & sustaining many wallet products, but I’m staunchly opposed to over-funding them all with the precious, finite block reward treasuries.

If anything, the market cap rather indicates that the market does not really trust ECC/ZF to develop this project into a meaningful direction. The market is shouting that ECC/ZF should listen more to the users, but ECC/ZF seem to be deaf. I say this very respectfully : even brillant, well-intentionned people can be deaf.

The Zondax app will be a new, separate, distinct app from the existing one.

@Dodger do you have any insight into how long this will take to get through? When I have a look at the ledger airtable platform, Zcash sits in an “uncategorised” column

The ‘Uncategorized’ Zcash app is Hanhs app. The Zcash Ledger App is Zcash Shielded and is in the ‘To be released’ section.

Ah nice, we will see it soon then

how will it look like if user has funds in current Zcash app and they want to use the new Zondax app?
is it seamless or will they have to do something/ create new wallet?

maybe the devs can answer that.

Still waiting on this…

When this does drop, hopefully there is some fan fare from ledger’s side, as this thing has been in development hell for years

@Dodger I still can’t figure out why Ledger is stalling and why this working solution has zero support from ZF.

Why did we choose Zondax if they can’t get this done?

Furthermore, Trezor “ran off” with partial funding with zero to show.

Unacceptable.

Why should the community have any faith in future hardware grants?

Help me, understand what is happening with this?

Mr @hanh, i want to ask if you know those (2) accounts you are following on GitHub:

@tung240603 (followers & following)

Also you recently starred the account:

Both accounts are reported to be linked with a recent investigation into suspicious activity on GitHub attributed to the Lazarus Group:

hxxps://medium.com/coinmonks/suspicious-activity-in-github-associated-with-lazarus-group-200868dff910

I want to understand the logic behind following such accounts. Or in case you don’t know which accounts you follow. Could you answer, what led you to have certain activity with these accounts? What’s interesting about them? Or have you spoken to them? Anything?

I’m not assuming anything, but I’m curious.

Thank you!

H

no idea. they are unfollowed now.

@hanh Have you followed any new accounts lately, or have you always had 0 following?

Have you starred any new repositories ?

Have you run any untrusted code locally? Given your skills and the projects you work on, you might be seen as a high-value target.

Sorry for the questions but your activity seemed quite curious to me

Thanks for answering

There is a bot that checks dependencies on GitHub and everything is built from source from their servers.
What I run locally has no effect on the ywallet releases.

Hello @hanh !

I can’t find any more Ledger documentation on the YWallet website. Are there any problems with this use case?

https://ywallet.app/advanced/ledger

it should work using an old version. Nothing has changed in the protocol since last year.

What about DB compatibility w/ downgrading? They should rebuild instead of attempting to import a currrent one, correct?

Yes, new databases aren’t supported by old versions.
