Statstreet OTC

Hi Zcash community,

George here from Satstreet. I recently joined the forum and wanted to introduce our team, explain what we do, and - more importantly - start a conversation about where we may be able to support the Zcash ecosystem.

Who we are

Satstreet is a fully regulated digital asset OTC trading desk serving high-net-worth individuals, family offices, corporations, institutions, miners, and other businesses operating in the digital asset industry.

Since launching in Canada in 2020, our desk has processed more than $4.5 billion in digital asset transactions. We specialize in larger transactions, generally starting at $50,000 to over $100M+, and provide clients with direct white-glove access to our trading desk rather than requiring them to execute through a traditional retail exchange interface with single order book liquidity.

Why we’re interested in Zcash

We’ve recently been spending more time looking at the Zcash ecosystem and speaking with participants about one area where we believe Satstreet can potentially add value: liquidity and fiat/stablecoin connectivity for larger ZEC transactions.

There are a number of situations we’re particularly interested in supporting:

  • ZEC holders looking to buy and sell larger positions without relying exclusively on retail exchange order books.
  • Individuals or institutions looking to acquire larger amounts of ZEC.
  • Miners and mining businesses that periodically need to convert ZEC into USD, CAD, stablecoins, or other supported assets.
  • Zcash ecosystem companies that receive or hold ZEC but have fiat operating expenses.
  • Businesses accepting ZEC that eventually need to convert a portion of those receipts into fiat.
  • Market participants that need larger-block OTC liquidity between ZEC, stablecoins, fiat, and other supported digital assets.

Our goal isn’t to replace decentralized liquidity or the privacy-preserving infrastructure being built around Zcash. We see OTC liquidity as complementary infrastructure for situations where businesses or larger holders eventually need access to traditional financial rails or need to execute transactions that may be difficult to handle efficiently through a public order book.

We’re also interested in hearing directly from the community about where liquidity gaps currently exist and how we can help!

If you’re a miner, ZEC holder, ecosystem company, wallet provider, payment company, exchange, or other Zcash participant dealing with meaningful transaction volumes, I’d be very interested in hearing about the challenges you’re encountering. My email is george@satstreet.com

Happy to answer questions about Satstreet here publicly as well.

Looking forward to getting involved and learning more from everyone.
