Yes, I talked with djm34 about his CUDA miner on Slack. I’m not shocked because my 23 Sol/s was not using any GPU specific optimization (and none of its fast shared memory), and djm34 must’ve found some way to put the GPU architecture to better use than just treating it like a many core cpu.
@trolloniex , I do have a very hard time believing 100 Sol/s on CPU and can only respond with “keep dreaming”…
For anyone interested in optimizing Tromp’s CUDA code I highly recommend this course by Udacity:
It goes into a lot of detail about performance of memory types as well as thread synchronization, and will literally only take you a couple of hours to learn if you already know C.
(I was hoping to do the optimization but haven’t had time as of yet).
Hi, nobody. Gratz on the CUDA Equihash performance! While you may not think of it as unusual, it’s still shocking to many in the community, and of course to those who bought cloud-mining contracts.
Which Cuckoo Cycle bounties are you going for? CPU? GPU? TMTO?
Hi Tromp, I’m going first for the CPU then followed by the GPU speedup challenges. If successful, then an attempt will be made for the time-memory tradeoff challenge.
I enjoy these type of challenges because it’s an opportunity to learn something new.
Note that I will consider bounty claims one at a time.
If you for instance win the CPU bounty through some algorithmic improvement, then I will try to carry that over to the TMTO and GPU solvers before considering claims on those.
Cryptomined,
I also have a 980 ti and am using the extremals 0.2.2 windows client, both the first one and the silent army one but they both open a command prompt windows for like a tenth of a second then immediately closes. Could you tell me how you got yours working please?
Okay thanks. I have a few other questions if you dont mind. I learned
that you have to use the t address when using a mining pool. Coinsforall.io
in particular. Do I always have to leave the zcashd daemon running in
linux for can I close it after the addresses are created? Where is the t
address stored, like in what website? How long does it take to actually
get a payout from mining. Ive been mining for hours and hours but havent
recieved any zcash. Im using two 980 tis. Ill submit a pic of my info if
that helps.Thanks for your help!
Im not an expert on that, but I believe that you shouldnt always need zcash running?, i m pretty sure the info stores in the blockchain, BUT why dont you just use an exchange address to mine to? so much easier since you probably want to sell or trade your ZCash these days anyway, just supply and demand… better to sell it now and buy it back in 2-3 months no?
Do you know of any good zcash exchanges? I also want to use an offline wallet address to store coins for later. Too many sites get hacked and people lose all their coins. What do you mean am I all on coins for now?
Oh. No I have the deluminate chrome extension running in night mode. It’s
easier on the eyes. Yeah someone else mentioned polo. I will create an
address there for trading coins but will store my coins offline for safety.
Did you see the current value of zcash? 1300usd!!
