Turkish Zcash Education & Community Growth Initiative

Hello everyone

Over the past few weeks, I’ve spent time learning more about the Zcash ecosystem, reading discussions on the forum, and speaking with members of the community.

One thing became very clear to me.

Many cryptocurrency users have heard of ZEC, but far fewer truly understand what makes Zcash unique.

People recognize the name, yet concepts such as financial privacy, shielded transactions, and the importance of privacy in everyday payments remain unfamiliar to many users.

I believe awareness is only the first step.

Real adoption begins when people understand a technology, trust it, and have access to high-quality educational resources in their own language.

Turkey consistently ranks among the world’s most active cryptocurrency markets, and I believe localized education can help strengthen the Turkish Zcash community and introduce more users to the ecosystem over the long term.

With this proposal, my goal is not simply to publish content, but to build long-term educational resources while helping grow an active Turkish Zcash community.

The project includes:

  • 7 educational YouTube videos in Turkish
  • 20 educational X (Twitter) threads
  • Beginner-to-advanced educational resources
  • Community engagement activities
  • Limited Zcash-branded merchandise giveaways for active community members

All content will be published through Crypto Epoch, reaching an existing Turkish crypto community of more than 219,000 members across YouTube and X other social platforms

X : Crypto Epoch (@crypto_epoch) / X 105K

I have already submitted the full grant proposal on GitHub, and I would sincerely appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or questions from the community. If there are areas that can be improved, I am happy to refine the proposal based on your input.

Thank you for your time and consideration

Education like this is how adoption really starts. People remember Zcash the moment they send their first shielded payment, even a tiny one.

Do you plan to end sessions with attendees making a real shielded transaction on their own phone? Curious which wallet works best for first timers in Turkey.

Thank you! That’s a great suggestion

I completely agree that hands-on experience is one of the best ways to learn. People are much more likely to remember Zcash after making their first shielded transaction themselves.

Whenever possible, I will include practical demonstrations throughout the educational content—from downloading a wallet and setting it up to sending and receiving shielded transactions—so users can confidently follow every step on their own.

When it comes to wallets, privacy is the core value of Zcash. That’s why I plan to recommend wallets that provide the best native Zcash experience while keeping the onboarding process as simple as possible for new users. My goal is to help users not only understand Zcash, but actually start using it with confidence.

Thanks again for the valuable suggestion!

Seems your vision aligns in both the same area and with the same goals as Zcash Türkiye, do you plan on competing or working together?

Im curious why you decided to upgrade your account from read only to read/write access? I love when new folks decide to upgrade, but I love learning on what made them take it to the next level :student:

Thank you

Thank you for your question.

My goal is not to compete with Zcash Türkiye, but to support it and help grow the Turkish Zcash community.

During Istanbul Blockchain Week, I had the opportunity to meet members of the Zcash Türkiye community, including Batuhan, and it was great to learn more about their work and the Turkish ecosystem.

I believe there is still a significant opportunity to reach more Turkish-speaking crypto users. Many people recognize ZEC as a cryptocurrency, but far fewer truly understand what Zcash is, how shielded transactions work, and what makes it unique.

That’s where I believe I can contribute. By creating high-quality educational content for my existing audience, I hope to introduce Zcash to more people and help strengthen the community that already exists—not replace it.

If this proposal helps even more Turkish users discover, understand, and eventually use Zcash, then I believe everyone in the ecosystem benefits

Interesting, have you reached out to @Batuhan ? Since your not going to compete I’m curious what this collab will look like moving forward. I agree everyone benefits with more folks helping, and I wish you the best of luck.

Yes, he had visited our booth at the event venue. During the event, I explained to many people how they can join the Zcash ecosystem, how they can become active through the forum and Discord, and how they can submit a grant proposal if they have an idea.

We are working to include everyone who wants to contribute to Zcash into the ecosystem. I also shared the necessary links with many people so they could open proposals if they wanted to contribute individually.

In this context, I advised everyone that before trying to make money, they should first understand the project’s logic, its technical structure, and how it evolves.

If his proposal is successful, of course, as the Türkiye team we would be happy to provide any support he may need.

I wish him success with his proposal. :folded_hands:

Thank you! Yes, I had the opportunity to meet Batuhan during Istanbul Blockchain Week.

He encouraged me to learn more about the Zcash ecosystem, explore the forum, and understand how I could genuinely contribute before trying to build anything.

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing over the past couple of weeks—reading discussions, learning from the community, and thinking carefully about where I could add the most value.

After spending that time learning, I felt that education was the area where I could make the strongest contribution. My goal is simply to support the existing Turkish Zcash community and help it continue to grow.

Thank you very much, Batuhan.

I really appreciate your kind words and support.

You’re absolutely right. One thing I took away from our conversation at Istanbul Blockchain Week was that before trying to contribute, I should first understand the ecosystem, the community, and where I could genuinely add value.

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing over the past two weeks—reading forum discussions, learning from community members, and trying to understand where my experience could have the biggest impact.

Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction. I look forward to contributing to the Turkish Zcash ecosystem.
