Why is Zcash SO unpopular?

Yup I think you’re right. But isn’t Monero not as private as people think? It uses obfuscation right? So basically just hiding shit, whereas Zcash uses all out zero-knowledge proof encryption? And yea there’s a chance that early adopters will look to another currency for total anonymity/privacy, but with some good PR/marketing price declines and bearish speculation can maybe be mitigated. Zcash has always been said to be a long term play - and if/until it hits that semi-mainstream use, it’s gonna be bumpy

EDIT: So I’m basically mining and holding for 5 years minimum. Buying to try and take advantage of current markets but BTC is way to high right now

I think a lot of people use Zcash for the future possibilities of zk-snarks, and are fine using transparent transactions. Privacy is there if you need it, but it’s not a must for everyone.
