@ogasky

Congratulation on the first edition of the program nice one from you and the team i just have few observations i might maybe need more clearance on:

Looking at this proposal, I’m struck by the ratio between the amount requested and the work proposed. Before ZCG considers a second edition, I think the community deserves clear answers on the first, and on Zcash Ghana’s track record.

On the maiden edition
Which projects did the residents actually build? Please share public repos for ZOERDPAY and ZOERDWALLET, with commit history showing which residents contributed what. Were any parts built or finished by ZOERD staff or outside contractors?

What happened to the 15 developers you onboarded?
How many are still building on Zcash today, and what have they shipped since September?
Where was the maiden edition held, and why there rather than in Ghana, given this runs under Zcash Ghana?

On Zcash Ghana’s track record I went through Zcash Ghana’s April–August reports.
Each month has a line item for a developers workshop or hackathon, but the evidence posted under it is: April: an X post about unboxing server equipment
May: a “Privacy Day” outreach at a shopping mall, with the same post reused as the roadshow evidence
June: a wallet-setup meetup in Kintampo
July: a planning graphic for this residency
August: the residency announcement and a call for volunteer facilitators

I couldn’t find a single hands-on developer session in five months of funded reports. Can you point to one, with attendees and what they built? And how many developers, as opposed to wallet downloads, has Zcash Ghana onboarded in total?

In April you unboxed a 64GB RAM / 4TB “privacy server” and later ran a Zebra node. Was that hardware ZCG-funded? Why does this proposal need another $4,000 in nodes, plus ZOERDHUB supplying node infrastructure?

Other African communities, including newer ones, are already onboarding developers with smaller budgets and visible results.

What does this residency deliver that justifies nearly $40k compared with those approaches?
On the budget and structure $35,780 sits behind one milestone whose only deliverable is a report. Why not tie payments to verifiable outputs such as resident repos, deployed projects and 90-day retention?

ZOERDHUB is paid for the venue ($6,300) and for two staff ($4,200). Who are the four team members, and what does each one do for $100 a day?

What exactly is the $200 “portable pocket node”? Is there a spec or repo?
Maiden-edition facilitators were recruited as volunteers. What changed to justify paid facilitators now, and who are they?

Clear answers to these would help everyone evaluate whether a second edition is the right use of ZCG funds.

Thank you for your congratulatory message and you are welcome to this forum because I can see that this is your first post here on this forum.

And to answer your question, a detailed report was posted to community about the daily activities that happened in the residency for 21 days during the maiden edition and that we will do in the second edition, however this you may not know because you may be relatively new here, and I will humbly ask you to go through this proposal again as you will see the relevant links there for your view.

Also, for the record, the Zcash Privacy Developers Residency Maiden Edition was not funded by ZCG but we were able to get it done via supports from key Zcash Ecosystem developers and contributors who supported us as course modules facilitators for free.

And, based on our relationship, we got the infrastructural support for the developers residency, together with feeding of the resident developers as well as transport support for the developers back home after the maiden edition of Zcash Privacy Developers Residency programme. All these we did to push Zcash Blockchain Technology and Financial Privacy to the world for more adoption.

In summary, I will encourage you to go through our proposal, read through every line & go through the links as well, as most of the questions you are asking are already answered there, with the detailed budget breakdown. It is key to note that the Zcash Privacy Developers Residency is been done collaboratively with specific roles and functions as already stated in the proposal, and this does not in anyway affect the community activities of Zcash Ghana, and all Zcash Ghana monthly activities are duly reported as required.

It will interest you to note that Developers from the maiden edition were onboarded to the Zcash Global community and other Zcash projects platforms, where they contributed and won some task bounties from these platforms. And some of them are still contributing to some of the Zcash related ecosystem projects currently. I believe that I have answered most of your questions, if not all.

Thank you.

I don’t see any answer to the questions

Really loved the first edition
