ZCG Request for Proposal (RFP) - Community Note Taker 2025
Project Description
The Zcash Community Grants Committee (ZCG) is inviting qualified independent contractors to submit a proposal to provide note taker services for biweekly Zcash Arborist calls.
The respondent selected by ZCG will be an independent contractor governed by an independent contractor agreement with the Financial Privacy Foundation (FPF). The agreement will be for a probationary three month period with an option for ZCG/FPF to extend until November 2025.
Project Schedule
RFP posted on Zcash Community Forum on February 24, 2025
Responses due March 14, 2025, 11:00pm UTC
ZCG will review and select the winning proposal by March 31, 2025
Scope of Work
As the Zcash developer community grows, effective communication of protocol development decisions is becoming increasingly important. Currently, to stay informed about discussions on protocol upgrades, one must watch the 1.5-hour Zcash Arborist calls held biweekly.
We seek an independent contractor to attend these calls and take concise notes summarizing discussions, key decisions, and action items. The contractor will also create a summary thread on X/Twitter highlighting the main points and outcomes as well as post on the Zcash Community Forum. Given the technical nature of these discussions, it’s acceptable to refine notes using the YouTube recording after the call. The expectation is that the post-meeting actions will be completed as quickly and efficiently as possible to ensure the community receives information in a timely manner.
Notes will be submitted via GitHub. Examples of prior minutes can be found at the following links: Github, X, Forum Post.

For more than two years, Jason (@squirrel) has served as the community notetaker for the bi-weekly Arborist Calls, providing clear and timely summaries of these discussions on X and GitHub. His work has been an important resource for the community that helped people stay informed about key development projects and engineering initiatives.
Jason will be stepping down from this role to focus on ZecHub full-time. His contributions have been invaluable, both in providing an essential community resource and in supporting broader engagement. He has done an outstanding job capturing and distilling complex discussions into concise and accessible summaries.
Thank you, Jason, for your hard work and dedication! Great job!
We’re on track with the stated schedule. The application deadline was Friday, March 14, and we received four applications. We are currently reviewing the submissions and expect to make a decision by Monday, March 31.
ZCG is pleased to announce that Chidi (@lisa001) has been selected as the new Community Notetaker for the bi-weekly Arborist Calls. He will take on the role beginning with the Arborist Call on Thursday, April 3.
Chidi is a long-time contributor to the Zcash ecosystem. He previously served as a member of the Global Ambassador Program and currently leads the Zcash Nigeria initiative, working to increase adoption and engagement in the region.
Similar to Jason, Chidi will attend each Arborist Call, transcribe and summarize key discussions, decisions, and action items, and share concise updates on social media to help keep the community informed.
Please join us in congratulating him and wishing him success in the role.
