ZCG to FPF Transition Update

This thread will provide periodic updates on the transition of ZCG to FPF.

  1. Transition Period
    December will be a transition month as we systematically transfer contracts, funds, responsibilities, and systems from ZF to FPF to support ZCG. ZF will collaborate with FPF throughout this period to ensure uninterrupted support for ZCG. The transition is targeted for completion by December 31, 2024.

  2. Grant Management Platform Update

  • The new GitHub-based grant management platform is nearing completion.
  • Submittable will stop accepting new grant applications and milestone requests after December 8, 2024.
  • Interim instructions and processes will be shared if there is a gap between platforms.
  • Milestone requests will continue to be reviewed and paid promptly.
  • All existing grants will be migrated to the new platform, and grantees will need to acknowledge revised grant terms and conditions when requesting their first milestone payment.
  1. ZCG Election Process
  • The ZCG election process will soon be announced, with ZF administering the in-transition election cycle via ZCAP.
  • After this election, the next ZCG election will occur in June 2025 in accordance with ZIP 1015 guidelines: The ZCG Committee SHALL be selected by ZF’s Community Advisory Panel or a successor process (e.g., established by FPF).
  1. Fund Transfer
  • FPF and ZF are working together to transfer ZCG funds to FPF’s treasury.
  • These funds are restricted for ZCG’s specific purposes and cannot be used by FPF for any other purposes.
  • The community will be updated once the transfer is complete.
  • ZCG’s block subsidy began flowing into FPF’s account at the halving – no issues were encountered.

  • FPF will release a 2024 annual report soon, with quarterly reports beginning in Q1 2025.

FPF is committed to facilitating a smooth transition and is excited to collaborate with the new ZCG committee, ZecHub, and others to support the Zcash ecosystem. Together, we look forward to a productive and successful 2025.
