It looks like you only support T addresses and therefore fall under category 4 service. Please consider Z only addresses instead to move to the top of this service desirability list

  1. Z only (the purpose of Zcash. I am happy to support you with ZEC)
  2. Does not support Zcash at all (on the path to realizing that transparent transactions have no added value over Bitcoin and only shielded transaction support will help build Zcash usage long term)
  3. Z and T support (emphasizes that Zcash is not private by default)
  4. T support only (does not allow users to benefit from the sole purpose of Zcash)

This framework doesn’t hold up under any scrutiny, especially Point 2 positioned there seems intended as a deliberately extreme and proactive point (though on-brand). Accepting t addr only is still better than nothing because at least it means some of the development work like having an exchange pipeline and syncing with the blockchain etc are done, meaning it’s progress towards accepting z transactions

@simondarkprince Please note that these “Four levels of zcash services” is completely made up by user Tsupportisharmful

Thanks for supporting Zcash in your app. Why do you think that NOWpayments only supports T-addresses? Is Z-addresses support a technical hurdle for your development team?

I will admit that this is a list I created. I know that some others agree with me. Privacy matters and it is the reason why I am here fighting to make Zcash stronger by improving its privacy and security. Transparent transactions make Zcash weaker.

Do you have any evidence that accepting transparent transactions are leading to increased shielded usage? I would argue it is actually the opposite. The chain with mandatory privacy has seen usage grow much faster.

The good news is that we can turn this around and see Zcash usage take off as soon as we stop promoting the false narrative that T address support is helpful and depreciate transparent transactions! Zcash offers the best privacy available and the work will notice it once we stop promoting a transparent clone of Bitcoin.

Thanks a lot for your interest and the questions!

We are actually planning to add support of Z-addresses, once it’s done, we’ll be sure to bring the update here!
We value feedback from the Zcash community - and would love to improve based on it

Thanks @simondarkprince for your contribution to Zcash ecosystem. I think it’s awesome that your service is non-custodial and supported worldwide. Moreover, you actually plan to add zaddr support which is awesome!

Hopefully this way we’ll see more merchants, especially those that value privacy like protonmail and purism, will integrate ZEC payment. Can’t wait!
