More than 50% of miners have been pointing to ViaBTC for months now (source: Zcash (ZEC) Equihash | Mining Pools). At this point it’s hard to view this as anything but malicious. Coinbase has set all ZEC trading pairs to “limit-only” as a precautionary measure.
If we are switching to PoS anyway, IMO the transition to PoS should be prioritized as a response.
