Some have messaged me regarding the titles I have assigned to certain members, like those of ECC or ZF, or like @pacu (developer relations engineer) . This is to help users better understand who they are interacting with in conversations.
If other groups like ZecHub or Zcash Brazil would like to have their own groups (which are shown as a title) let me know what group name is to be an who the members of that group are. I would like to avoid having too many titles around but if you want to show your affiliation with a certain group I’m happy to help.
To make this simpler to manage I can assign someone from that group as the “group owner” who can then add/remove members of that group, that way everyone doesn’t need to DM me directly
Assigning titles to identify groups in a community can be quite beneficial. These titles help individuals feel part of a group, boosting their sense of belonging and making them feel valued. Additionally, it facilitates interaction among members with similar interests and acknowledges those who contribute the most, thus encouraging more participation. It also aids in organizing the community, making it easier to manage and moderate discussions.
However, this practice has its downsides, where people only interact within their own groups, excluding others. This might lead to unnecessary competition, as members focus more on earning titles rather than making meaningful contributions. Furthermore, it can stigmatize those with less prestigious titles, making them feel undervalued. Lastly, it requires extra effort from administrators to manage and update the titles fairly and consistently.
From my perspective, I do not find it very appealing due to the potential for creating competing groups, as well as the risk of users developing a certain prejudice because of belonging to specific groups or titles, thereby generating unnecessary competition.
This is my point of view: I didn’t really like this idea of creating groups, but it has its advantages and disadvantages; it might be more beneficial than I’m imagining.
It’s just a title next to the persons username like “Electric Coin Company” or “Zcash Foundation” if someone wants for example “Zcash Brazil” I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.
