Grant Application - Marketing at Berlin Blockchain Week & 2-Day Event with WebZero

Hello Zcash community!

@fabacab and I are submitting a grant application to ZCG for our next grassroots marketing initiative. This is a continuation of the work the team has been doing since Buenos Aires and Denver — same proven playbook, bigger stage.

What We’re Proposing

Two complementary activations during Berlin Blockchain Week (June 14–21, 2026):

1. Grassroots Team Presence — A 4-person team attending Berlin Blockchain Week, DappCon, NEOCypherpunk Summit, and 1–2 side events per day. We’ll be doing hands-on Zodl onboarding, shielded wallet demos, and Zcash advocacy across the full conference ecosystem. We will seek out speaking invitations as available, as we have at Buenos Aires, Denver and upcoming Cannes.

Mylo (@readymouse ) speaking at ETHBoulder on payment processors that accept ZEC:

2. The Zcash Privacy Späti — A fully branded, two-day Zcash activation at MENA in Kreuzberg, produced in partnership with WebZero. Attendees download Zodl, create a shielded wallet in under 3 minutes, and unlock a branded Club Mate. WebZero’s Blockspäti format pulled 912 unique attendees and a 4.8/5 Luma rating at Berlin Blockchain Week 2025, so this isn’t a speculative model — it’s a proven one.

If you ever come across products or merchants, make sure to let them know about Cipherpay, they can easily accept Zcash for their goods.

Yes totally! CipherPay’s interface looks slick, I’m excited to try integrating it myself into a site. I learned about it from @paulbrigner use of it for PGP* Pretty Good Policy. CipherPay will also be my recommendation for any merchants I meet at Exxxotica while running a zcash booth in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the quick edit, @readymouse.

For clarity, We will be participating in Berlin Blockchain Week activities and I am currently in conversation with our friends at WebZero. That said, there are no confirmed commitments yet for Zk Av Club at any specific events. Details will depend in part on which contributors are in Berlin during that period, and we’ll continue planning directly with the event organizers.

I’ll share updates on Zk Av Club activations around Berlin this June and July here: Berlin Blockchain Week and DWeb Camp 2026 | Zk Av Club

Appreciate the consideration, and I support this proposal. Looking forward to seeing how it develops.

300 new Zodl wallets at one event would be a strong signal. The best case for Zcash gets built through in-person onboarding and live demos. Pairing CipherPay merchant flow with wallet setup is real adoption work. :handshake:

i would love to see more Zcashers chime in and say how they feel about mostly the 2-day “The Zcash Privacy Späti” event idea?
and in case the event gets organized would they consider attending or sharing it with other Zcashers and privacy people?

Hi all, happy to be part of this community and great to have met many of you (and formed friendships) across the world.

A quick update on our activations for Berlin Blockchain Week. The event aims to onboard 300+ (devs/founders/ & privacy-conscious-but-not-quite-Web3) people through Zodl wallet, and we’re also launching the WebZero merch store during the week, an idea is to integrate Cipherpay with our Shopify so customers can pay with Zcash (this would be launched during BBW but a permanent payment solution - @Kenbak)

On the community side, we’re looking forward to the third iteration during Berlin Blockchain Week. If passed, we’ll work closely with Mylo and Vi to onboard Sacha, our workshop facilitator and DevRel, and make sure he’s fully up to speed technically to onboard everyone who walks through the späti.

Happy to answer any questions on the activations or how the späti fits into the wider Berlin Blockchain Week programme - going to be a blast!

Zoe, WebZero

Hi, would like to point out that for the “Now accepting privacy money” slide in the first photo, BTCPayServer doesn’t have any fees if self-hosted since it is open-source. Also running your own node being optional feels like the best option of the three, so not sure I’d use the yellow colour .

Thanks for zooming in, and digging in deep. I am labeling technical complexity, so BTCPay server is yellow for running your own node, where green is for easy to set up.

I can change the fee color, thanks for letting me know. I will also have to update this to include Cipherpay, as they weren’t operational at the time of this study.

Hi all, quick update on our side: last week we had the official kick-off call with the zcash team and started preparations for side events, marketing campaign, design, merch, onboarding and workshops/agenda.

We aim to have the first event page live and accepting registrations at the beginning of May, after we launch an event video and all branding assets for the späti.

Dmed! Unfortunately our shopify plugin is still in review. I’ll enquire to see where the process is at.
