Following the latest feedback from ZCG, we successfully organized our first pilot community meetup in Algeria. The event brought together local community members for discussions about Zcash, privacy, and future collaboration. We hope this demonstrates that our team is capable of organizing meaningful in-person events, even with very limited resources.
We sincerely hope this pilot will be considered as evidence that our team deserves the opportunity to organize larger and better-funded IRL events that can reach more people and create even greater impact.
We would also like to clarify another point. While our work has been primarily online, we do not measure success by social media metrics alone. Our reports have consistently included measurable ecosystem outcomes, including 225+ Zodl Wallet downloads, 90+ users onboarded to ZcashNames, 230+ learners in the Arabic Zcash Academy, and 40+ attendees at every online workshop, alongside collaborations with ZecHub, CipherPay, ZcashNames, and Noir Wallet, as well as various community initiatives. These are not just social media metrics; they represent real onboarding, education, ecosystem collaboration, and active participation in the Zcash ecosystem.
We also want to point out that our work did not stop in June or July despite receiving no funding that’s why we have applied for Startup Funding. If you believe our previous work does not justify that request, you may reduce or decline that portion. However, we hope that our work will be evaluated based on the results and impact we have demonstrated.
If you look at other funded community initiatives, you will find that around 80% of their work is online, while only around 20% is dedicated to IRL events. At the very least, this shows that online community building is meaningful work and is already recognized and funded by ZCG.
