I started my zcashdaemon in mining mode as per Home · zcash/zcash Wiki · GitHub
It is been couple of hours and my daemon is still at 1514 block.
How much time it will take to catchup with latest block and start mining?
Is there any way I can get pre-computed blockchain setup (starting from higher blocks ~15000)?
My setup:
4Core 16GB RAM.
Benchmark = 72(average) seconds to complete equihash.
The current block height is about 1500, the Testnet was reset to Beta2 just a couple days ago.

Currently I am seeing block height 1538.
If beta2 height is ~1500, why I am not seeing “Zcash Miner started” in daemon?
Is daemon not mining?

HI. I currently have a couple of mining contracts making $5 a month from scrypt and Bitcoin.
I have setup my i3 2120 with 8GB ram to mine the test coins, and it appears to be doing something, but I’m not sure if I should have seen something by now! I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth trying myself, as all the contracts I can see won’t really pay out before the time limited contract ends.
Like the OP, I’m on block 2627 and have been running on all 4 threads for approx 4 hours at approx 75% utilization. In the guide I followed it said you should start to see something after a couple of hours, but I am still at 0.0 balance.
Could it be that my PC is not powerful enough to mine effectively, or is this just how solo mining goes. It might take a long time, but if you get a payout it is good?

genproclimit=2 in your config file ?

No. This is what I have in my config file. Would the username and password make a difference?

No username pass doesn’t make a difference but adding genproclimit=2 would give you roughly double the speed
Not 100% sure, but after putting that line in the config file, all 4 cores are pegged at 100%! So was I mining on 1 core (2 threads before), and now I’m firing on all cores?

Be sure to :
~/zcash/./src/zcash-cli stop (stop miner)
then restart daemon
~/zcash/./src/zcashd -daemon
Testnet difficulty is increased from 40 to 60 in just two days.
I could mine 2 coins for two days at ~40 difficulty. With current
difficulty I too could not mine anything.
May be lot of powerful machines are added to network in past two days.
I see mention that people are starting to figure out GPU mining, which will blow me out the water before I start. If that’s the case I’ll be looking for a pool and saving for an AMD card, but I know the wife won’t understand!
Well it took a while, but eventually I have mined 3 test coins.
With all the action and big money wing thrown at GPU, I’ll be irrelevant before it gets going. If everyone is mining with GPU’s will there be any point CPU mining?

If we add setserver=1 in the zcash.conf file and point the zminer to our ip address will it mine solo optimized? I mean i tried it and It did start mining and found solutions but never stated it was submitting anything?
