Introducing Zcash to Kenyan Universities & Tech Communities 2026

Hello Zcash Community

I’m excited to share that we have officially submitted our grant proposal to Zcash Community Grants to launch the first Zcash privacy education and community initiative in Kenya

Proposal Link: https://github.com/ZcashCommunityGrants/zcashcommunitygrants/issues/249

Through our community, CryptoGalaxy (https://cryptogalaxys.xyz), we are proposing to organize 13 physical events across major Kenyan cities and universities, combining city workshops and campus tours focused on Zcash awareness, privacy education, and developer onboarding.

Over the past few years, we have successfully hosted 28+ blockchain events, reached 500+ developers, engaged 235+ hackathon participants, and supported the development of multiple dApps including:

With crypto adoption growing rapidly across Kenya, we believe this initiative will help introduce Zcash to a new generation of students, developers, and privacy advocates, while also building a sustainable local community and long-term ecosystem engagement.

We welcome feedback, guidance, and collaboration from the global Zcash community as we work to expand Zcash adoption in East Africa’

Launching a dedicated privacy education program around Zcash in Kenya is both timely and impactful, especially as conversations around financial privacy and self-sovereignty continue to grow globally. The focus on physical events, university engagement, and developer onboarding shows a clear understanding of what actually drives ecosystem adoption on the ground.

Your track record with CryptoGalaxy hosting events, engaging developers, and supporting dApp development adds real credibility to this proposal. If executed well, this could become a blueprint for Zcash community expansion across other African regions.

Wishing you success with the grant this is exactly the kind of grassroots effort the space needs

Privacy and quantum resistant tech is the real moat. Would love to see Zcash community grow in developing communities.

Bringing privacy education and real-world blockchain exposure to Kenya is exactly what the ecosystem needs right now. The focus on physical events, developer onboarding, and community building shows strong long-term vision, not just short-term hype.

The track record with events and developer engagement makes this even more convincing. Wishing you all the best with the grant — this could have a massive impact

Thank you for highlighting this, we understand the importance of maintaining integrity within the forum.

To provide context, the activity in question took place during a physical community meetup at a local Web3 hacker house. During the session, we shared the proposal with attendees and actively onboarded new participants into the Zcash ecosystem, encouraging them to review and give feedback directly on the forum.

We also created a dedicated Telegram channel for the local community interested in Zcash as part of a broader vision to build a strong and sustainable local ecosystem. The goal was to centralize discussions, support onboarding, and foster continued engagement beyond the event.

Given that many participants were connected to the same network, including shared Wi-Fi and in some cases the same mobile provider, it is expected that multiple accounts would appear under a single IP address. This is a common occurrence in environments where users access the internet through shared infrastructure or carrier-grade NAT.

Our intention was to gather authentic community input and involve new users in the ecosystem, not to circumvent any guidelines. We fully respect the forum’s Code of Conduct and are open to providing any additional clarification if needed.

We appreciate your diligence in ensuring a fair and transparent process.

We will also be sharing threads and all community updates in the channel, both in English and Swahili, to ensure clarity and inclusivity within the East African community.

Thank you for submitting your proposal. Following a thorough review by the ZCG and a period for community feedback on the forum, the committee has decided not to move forward with this proposal.

We sincerely appreciate the time and effort you invested in your application and encourage you to stay involved and continue contributing to the Zcash community. For additional ways to get involved, resources, and opportunities to contribute and earn ZEC, we recommend connecting with ZecHub.

Thank you for the update and for the opportunity to submit our proposal.

While we’re naturally disappointed with the outcome, we truly appreciate the time, consideration, and feedback from the ZCG and the wider community. We remain committed to the growth of the Zcash ecosystem, especially within East Africa.

We will continue building momentum through the Telegram channel we’ve created, sharing educational content, updates, and onboarding resources in both English and Swahili to support broader accessibility. Beyond that, we’ll keep contributing wherever possible through community engagement, awareness campaigns, and supporting new users entering the ecosystem.

We also look forward to exploring other ways to collaborate and contribute meaningfully, including engaging with ZecHub and similar initiatives.

Thank you once again, and we hope to stay closely involved moving forward.
