Zcash Ghana Maiden X Space Recap
On Sunday, July 6th, 2025, the Zcash Ghana community successfully hosted its maiden X Space event with the topic:
“Financial Privacy & the Power of Zcash – Why It Matters for Africa”
Despite initial technical challenges — including being logged out twice due to the massive audience trying to tune in — we pushed through and proudly had 212 participants join the conversation. It was an incredible turnout, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and commitment.
Key Highlights from the Event:
The event was hosted by Ogasky, who welcomed everyone and expressed gratitude for their resilience despite the early disruptions. He introduced the mission of Zcash Ghana — to educate the Ghanaian community about the Zcash blockchain, promote financial privacy, and onboard crypto enthusiasts, developers, and businesses into the Zcash ecosystem.
Speaker Sessions:
Blcvkman opened the discussion with a deep dive into the history of Zcash, explaining its unique feature: shielded transactions.
He emphasized the dangers of transparent transactions and how Zcash’s privacy-protecting technology can help Ghanaians shield themselves from financial tracking and harassment.
He also explained the difference between t-addresses (transparent wallets) and z-addresses (shielded wallets) and encouraged the Ghana crypto and web3 community to support and grow Zcash Ghana.
Kroy expanded on the concepts of shielded wallets, offering a detailed explanation of ZK-SNARKS — the cryptographic magic behind Zcash privacy.
He introduced ZecHub as an open-source educational platform where Ghanaians can learn about Zcash, contribute to the ecosystem, and earn rewards in ZEC.
Kroy also highlighted the Zcash Global Ambassador Program and stressed that Zcash is open to everyone — whether you’re a developer, designer, writer, event organizer, or trader.
He encouraged participants to explore tasks and resources on zechub.wiki.
Audience Questions:
- Hakeem raised a question about why the conversation seemed to focus on development and not on Zcash as an investment, and also inquired why the Zcash Ghana lead is based in Nigeria.
In response, Ogasky explained that he actively works between Nigeria and Ghana, has a family base in Ghana, and has previously organized blockchain events in Accra. He assured participants that he understands the Ghanaian ecosystem well and that the Zcash Ghana community will actively support investment opportunities by encouraging developers to build Zcash-based projects that could attract investors at pre-seed, seed, and later fundraising stages.
- Stanley, who joined from Nigeria, asked about finding Zcash support channels and resources.
Kroy provided guidance, directing him to the Zcash Discord server, Zcash official website, and ZecHub channels where he can access support and resources.
Closing Remarks:
Ogasky encouraged participants to take screenshots of their participation and tweet about the event while tagging @ZcashGH to help create momentum and visibility for the growing community.
He also made a call for volunteers to join the movement and help build Zcash Ghana, inviting interested participants to send a DM to @ZcashGH.
The event lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes, with 212 participants tuning in.
It was an exciting and impactful session, marking the official birth of the Zcash Ghana community.
Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and contributed. This is just the beginning!
