Joke about mining setup and whine, Lement, Brag, or Celebrate

Once I worked in tech-support where I basically did this kind of thing for a living.
We need to distill our knowledge - turning our experiences into hard alchohol wherein it will serve two purposes:

#1 CLEAN -
Keep my systems goin.

#2 MEDICATE -
Keep me sane while I’m doing stuff that’s gonna keep my systems goin.

#1 Document your trials and errors if possible.
Type of miner you started with. Sols, Hashrate- Or simply create a reference to another thread on the forum.
Success or failure. -

#2 Medicate - VENT! … Whine complain… defuse here… not in other posts. Create a BS account to bitch under and place that all here.

GRIPE!

Big Winners seem to be windows users, who could mine with all the GPU available. Wishing I had done more research prior to launch.

Hilarious - I missed the fact that a GPU miner was available.
I installed the NiceHash version. — It ignores my GPU and does not give me any feedback, yet- it’s pushed by nicehash as a GPU/CPU miner - WHAT is UP with those guys!

ABSOLUTE SHOCK AND SADNESS AT THE CURRENT STATE OF AMD DRIVERS IN LINUX!
NOT THE FAULT OF ZCASH!

Nothings changed. – This has been going on for years.
Linux changes fast, and drivers cost money to manufacture.
AMD makes disposables chips, and disposable chipsets.
They gave up on supporting all chipsets under the radeon 4000 series back in 2012, and continued that in 2015 for what the 7000 series and under. See how your laptop runs with a MESA driver - Can’t even stream 1080P, next to my raspberry PI it’s kind of sad.
Bottom Line— If you run Linux STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM AMD!
Well, they got the new RX-480’s right?
GPU-PRO… There is a new driver out now. Two days old, 16.40 version… I’m on 16.30
I love watching my NETFLIX on these… NOT SD - AND CHOPPY!!!
Anyone else feal as if AMD as a company is going through the DEATH of a thousand CUTS.
PLEASE AMD PLEASE!!!

I wanted to ask this as well, ANYONE have an FX 8350? Those things are the bomb for Monero… What are your CPU HASHRATES? - Mine ETH with your GPU and Monero with your CPU? - Will Z-Cash take that role? Motivate the miners? Like you are paying the electricity to run a CPU - why not make it a profitable one.
Shame AMD dropped its line of Performance chips.

WISHING I HAD STUCK WITH NVIDIA!
My GTX 950 performs better than of one of my RX-480 cards. For less than half the price. - AND the I can watch netflix in HIGH DEF. - AND theoretically play steam games like X-Com 2. - Games where developers have more or less given up on AMD.

USING AMD CARDS, Like UBUNTU?
TIP!

FOR NOOOBS! PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO POINT-RELEASE NUMBERS OF UBUNTU
14.01 - LAST version of UBUNTU I could get working with 280x and 280’s and 7950’s
WASTED LONG HOURS on this.

SO - WE install windows, how many days does that take for a home user without install media that’s slipstreamed. How many times will I be resetting my PC over the next 24 hours to install updates. WHY IS THIS OS POPULAR… Because it’s an actual OS. And not a mixmatch of sparse opensource software tossed together and rolled out free of cost.

DESPERATION:
By the time I got home with it, and a brand new SSD. THE cost benefit of mining this currency dropped to under the point where I need to watch the currency for a day or two before opening the windows license

PROFIT MOTIVATED CHAOS:
It’s actually a little fun.

OBSERVATION:
WTF! At one point this coin was trading at a hysterical multiple of the value of Bitcion. If this currency is real OUT OF THE GATE, people have been burnt pretty hard,

UPDATE - Watching the coin free fall! $100 from 660 to 530 in one hour! At this rate, I should leave my systems pointed at ETH.

Hey all I have this super open-source AMD GPU miner that is totally free… but only available on one pool that takes 4% of your share. What a great deal, huh? (sarc).

QUICK! QUICK! QUICK! TRADE your ZCASH for Monero!

DOWN to 463 USD since last post.

Let’s hope it stays at least as profitable as XMR to mine. At least in the same ball park… provided I can sell it. Will it survive the month!
