Yes, but like I said, spending with two wallet copies of the same seed can potentially cause issues with the balance the wallet shows. If each wallet has its own seed, and you just send in and out for personal testing, then that doesn’t happen.
If you plan on using the same seed across different wallets, or different instances of the same wallet on different platforms (like the same zashi wallet on both ios and android), then only transact with one of them. Be sure to rescan and take note of the balance before (if) you switch.
Viewing keys are a way to clone the wallet, see everything about it, but not sign txs. View-only wallets can build txs, and this is how Zcash cold wallets work, but they do not posess the spending key, which presumably is held on an offline device. If you wanted to clone a wallet just to see its balance and stuff w/o also giving it spend authority, then view keys would work and are compatible w/ Zkool and Ywallet.
Sorry for harping on the same topic. I want to understand. I’m confused. Actually, I’m worried. I really want to do this. I want to switch wallets and start using Zingo because the latest versions of Ywallet don’t work on my computer.
I’m also looking into zcash wallets and wanting to find out which one is best for me.
It has to do with the internal functionality of the wallet. Like I said, usually a rescan will fix it but rescans used to take much longer than now, and can still take a while. This is speaking from personal experience and what I have heard from ECC wallet devs. I don’t know tbe very fine details.
Synchronizing ZecWallet is not the biggest problem; withdrawing ZEC to a new wallet is. Once you finish synchronizing ZecWallet, you will not be able to spend ZEC because that wallet is discontinued, and you will get an error when you try to make transactions. In this conversation, there are several alternatives you can use to recover your ZEC and send them to a new wallet. You just need to have your seed phrase.
