not sure what the cause is, but card should not work at 50% because it is connected to display (at least in Ubuntu linux 16.04). Sometimes i see Opti automatically assigning i4 (to display connected card) instead of i5 in case of rx 470, but that’ it. Speed is affected negligibly.
I have this on two of my rigs (the only AMDPro rigs), and it’s annoying. Someone mentioned rebuilding and reinstalling which I did with no joy. Sigh …
I have never experienced that problem on Zcash miners, but I have seen it when I started mining ETH way back when. It was always a bad/marginal x1 riser or flakey MB slot. I’ve had a bad riser affect adjacent cards/slots, as well. Just thought I’d throw that out there. HTH.

PCI-modes are for working around problems with bad PCIE risers. There can also be small differences in speed.
1.6.1/2 used by default pci mode 0, 1.7.0 uses by default mode 2. Mode 1/3 are more similar to 1.5.0.

Anyone can tell me which port i should use to work with ETHMAN from Claymore?
Is there a recommended level of Ubuntu / amdgpu-pro drivers for Optiminer? I built a new rig, and spent two days trying to get Ubuntu 14.04 + fglrx + optiminer working, and couldn’t get it working at all. I switched to Ubuntu 16.04.x, plus amdgpu-pro 16.60, and got constant reboots with an intensity setting of more than 1. I’ve switched again to 16.04 + amdgpupro 16.50, and now it runs for between a few minutes and a few hours before rebooting.
Thankfully the machine is rebooting after every crash, but it’s cutting the productivity of this machine by almost 30%.
What combination of OS & driver are people finding to be most reliable?

I just started testing 1.7, so don’t know yet, but i did experience instability on Opti 1.6.1 and 1.6.2
For me, Opti 1.5.0 version was rock solid (no reboots or crashes for days), but for others 1.6.1 and 1.6.2 were great. I have RX 470 cards (a mix of sapphire Nitro+ and MSI gaming)
As far as drivers, I am on 16.40 and Ubuntu 16.04.
Many people complained about the 16.50 driver, but i haven’t tested it myself.
Yeah, the 16.50 and 16.60 drivers appear to be terrible. I can’t find a link to the 16.40 drivers – does anyone have a link for them?

Any expectation from AMD 500 series ?
Just reading around they say 10% improvement over rx 400 series for gaming.
Any links to specs? As far as I have read the architecture is the same as the rx400 series. So, I’d expect them to be between the rx480 and the Nano.
So far I am liking 1.7. It makes GPU cards work that were not working in 1.6.2. It appears faster and more stable so far. Thanks @Optiminer !
The big difference is HBM2, which doubles the clock and halves the bus width, so the bandwidth is the same, with half the latency/memory cycle time. More CUs and, supposedly, a whiz-bang smart cache controller that improves cache performance by ~50%. On Equihash, I would expect it to be about the same as a 1070. On ETH, it should shine, offering perhaps a 50+% improvement over the existing hash rate hard-stop at 31M h/s. Of course, it’s going to be pricey, and we may not see it until May or June. I’m not terribly excited about it myself, other than it’s potential effect on other GPU prices.
