I don’t know about any dms but the issue you raised is very new and you should be patient.
You could try importing the sapling key into the latest Ywallet. It should work on Ubuntu.

I actually tried to get my zcash off the node years ago to no avail and just decided to try again now. I appreciate the help as well and will be patient.
Ywallet didn’t work so Hahn told me to do zkool - which I did but is also not working.
@hanh apologies but I couldn’t respond to our other thread on using zkool. You said something is wrong with my sync data and asked if I am comfortable using an SQLite browers and if I can run queries. I am not but I can learn if it’s the best/only path as I have a lot of value to get back here.
The latest version released like 2 days ago w/ a Ubuntu 24 fix so you might try again.
There is a video and a couple threads on how to browse the database file. If you scroll up a few posts, you’ll see the Youtube link for “How to get your shielded funds out of zcashd or zecwallet full node“
Got it. So you’re saying the zkool I used on windows has the issue and I should try running zkool on Ubuntu?
Unknown, but you could try (also the latest Ywallet should work and you could try that)
What is the “latest version” you’re referring to? zcashd? What do I need to run on ubuntu and load my secret-extended-main key into?
ok i am watching
I remember that there was no seed phrase in the early days of zec. Is it possible that I did not encrypt the seed phrase, I only have wallet.dat and zec address. That can retrieve my zec?
Latest version of Ywallet, the appimage will run on Ubuntu
@oldzec correct, seeds didn’t come around until after a few years. The post above describes your recovery options with the wallet.dat file
I used Ywallet on IOS mobile and it wouldn’t send the transaction - I successfully loaded my secret-extended-main key but when I attempt to send a transaction the wallet just stalls. This was the logic that @hanh told me to use zkool for. Should I expect a different outcome for running this on my ubuntu desktop?
thanks .i am trying do that wait my good news. And zec go to the moon!
In wallet.dat, you have both secret keys for sapling addresses (they begin with secret-key-…) and private keys for transparent addresses (they begin with K or L).
Neither ywallet or zkool support wallet.dat directly, and you cannot just open a wallet.dat file in them. However, you can import each key individually to make several accounts and then synchronize all of them at once.
Probably not. Your situation is more challenging than most because it is an old sapling account with what seems to be a large number of transactions and include mining rewards. I don’t have access to something like that. AFAIK, It is not supposed to make a difference but something odd happens.
The recording you made helped identify the problem, but it happened before you send. Some synchronization data is missing. A few things you can do:
Option 2 is easier but it may not explain why it doesn’t work on your machine and it gives me your tx history.
FYI:
I wrote both ywallet and zkool.
Yeah, I rough estimated it to be roundabout 1000 notes. That’s why I asked for a txid, to see if they look weird or something.
Hello,
I have zec that I had mined around jan 2018. I cannot move it out of the ledger wallet as i keep getting getvarint parameter errors. How do I move this out of the wallet so that i can use it? At the moment I am unable to move it out of ledger or even transfer from one wallet to another. I also tried swapping and this is not possible. I read about zcashd and a possibility that I might have the legacy coin from prior to upgrades. Please help.
Thank you!
I forgot to write troubleshooting already tried that has not worked on Ledgerlive:
Swapping for a different currency
Transferring from one zec address to another
Transferring from ZEC app to ZEC Shielded app
Outside of Ledgerlive:
Installed Ywallet and tried a full sync. It fails and none of the transactions from the earliest one are obtained. Today I did some more reading and the block height that the Ywallet starts sync with is much later so the earlier transactions are not being synced. Presumably because ywallet is using sync from orchard onwards?
Installed zecwallet-lite. Got some errors while performing yarn build. I also do not understand how installing this will work
Upon further research on ZCASH page, I have learnt that there were upgrades and the earliest transaction at hand is very old (prior to onerwintering) and zcashd would work but is being deprecated. I do not understand about how the upgrades relate to the wallet. Is the wallet being upgraded. What do I have to do to upgrade so that I can use the wallet?
Thanks
Hi
Will it be possible to import uncompressed private keys (5K) in Zkool wallet in the near future?
Thx!
No, this doesn’t happen in Bitcoin.
Thx
In bitcoin, they were deprecated but supported and you have wallets that do. In Zcash, the core libraries don’t but I think the protocol does. You made a paper wallet. But did you find an app that could spend these coins earlier?
Earlier you could do it with Coinomi, not now.
