Hi,

I’d like to swap USDC in MetaMask to Zashi using Zashi > More > Swap ZEC with NEAR Intents. But, I don’t see how to connect MetaMask to use the USDC. Also, I can’t get the ‘Get a quote‘ button to activate. What am I missing?

Are my ZEC now obsolete?

Hi community! Seeing the recent hype around ZEC’s price, I decided to check on the ZEC coins I bought back in 2017 - just to be safe. After all, it’s a long-term investment.

I went to install the official client I had back then, zcashd. But for some reason, it won’t start. I read the message: Deprecating in 2025. OMG :scream: WHAT?

So I started digging into this. Apparently, my Sprout addresses are no longer very relevant, or maybe even completely outdated. Not clear… In a panic, I tried installing the full node, which of course kept crashing with a database corrupted message several times - what a mess after waiting a whole day.

Anyway, I’ll try to recover funds from my old addresses if that’s still possible. And the main question remains - Deprecating in 2025 - does that mean at the end of the year, or could it happen at any moment?

This reminds me of a scene from Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, when the Vogons destroyed Earth, supposedly giving everyone advance notice. Except, of course, no one actually knew about the warning.

The expected deprecation date at the time of the upgrade that added the requirement for that line “I-understand-zcashd-will-deprecate-in-2025” (or however it goes) in the zcashd.conf was actually this month but has been extended for at least one more cycle past this one 6.10.0 and so you’ve still got a few months.

Is github the only remaining distribution channel for ywallet?

Instructions at ywallet(.)app were last updated in March 2025. At that time, the latest version was 1.8.1. (Google play store currently has version 1.8.0.) I see many new versions were released since then. Current version on github is 1.13.7 (2025-10-20).

What’s the recommended distribution channel for ywallet? Seems that I should install the most recent APK from github. If that’s correct then I volunteer to post a simple github PR to clarify instructions for others. I could also propose a quick update to docs at ywallet.app too if you point me to the proper channel.

@hanh thank you for your service over the years.

For those who have the issue with importing ZEC uncompressed private keys (5K), Coinomi wallet has already fixed it, and now these keys can be swept again with no problem.

Excellent news!

Hello.

I have my zcash node downloading the blockchain - slowly as must run a for only a few hours around the top of the day as house runs on solar!

I see above there is a stay of execution on us holders of sprout keys: “a few months”.

So I’m hopeful of getting this done in time.

As the download proceeds I am blocked from using the wallet and experimenting, so I have a few questions:

with one t-address and one zc-address, is it enough to use z_importprivkey / z_importkey on them?

then arrange to spend each to a new universal address (or rather an orchard shielded address)?

and to do so with a setting of 0.0001 for a fee?

Thanks!

If these are coming directly from the Sprout pool you will need to first send it to a T-address before you can then send it to Orchard.

Yes importprivkey for transparent and z_importkey for sprout. You will then need to rescan.

Hi, i can not move funds from an address which i used for cloud mining years ago. The address had about 1.1k incoming small transactions and i tried to send the Zcash from the address with Guarda wallet but it just gives me an error message. I guess the wallets can not handle that many small transactions?

Can you please recommend a solution to send the Zcash from such an address?

Guarda may not work and you should consider recovering your key or seed in Zkool. Also, wrt to combining many small notes: the current fee structure requires that all inputs (could also be outputs) incur a minimum fee of 0.00005000 each, meaning any note valued less than that cannot be spent. Zkool will give you a better idea of that because it will display all the note values and what the error actually is.

Good day. My concern does not really require technical support. By the way, I am LowKey from Gem Wallet team. We have recently added support for ZCash. And was wondering how we could get on the ZCash Community website as one of the wallets that support ZCash.

I was planning on updating the wallets page this weekend, I can add gem wallet.

That would be awesome. Please send me a DM if you have any questions or clarifications. You have a nice day!

you can open the DB file in SQLite db browser.

Hi, I got a problem - I used Zec4win in 2018, but now it is not available. I understand my wallet is outdated. Is there any way I can open it in 2025?
