Reddit Thread: Besides Monero, what are the best cryptos for privacy?

There are a lot of opinions over there, but not a ton of Zcash excitement unfortunately :frowning:

I think why Zcash lost popular support comes down to mainly 3 reasons.

  1. Giving up ASIC resistance

  2. Slow-walking or outright opposition to removing transparent addresses

  3. Statements from the previous leadership that made people not trust that Zcash is a hardcore privacy project. “We can make Zcash too traceable for criminals”

You can point to other reasons as well, such as the trademark and dev tax, but I believe had it not been for the 3 reasons I mentioned, Zcash would at least have been as popular as Monero.

i will add - imo:

(main on there are many monero users on reddit who are, loud?)

  1. Price more volatile and more down than XMR

  2. Spam attack made Zcash UX quite trash for too long imo

  3. People dont focus on privacy on crypto at all atm. Its on memes, solana and L2s atm imo

Even if point 1 is left alone

point 2 & 3 are a bigger problem and needs to be address asap

Anything to do with Zcash is downvoted to oblivion on r/cryptocurrency by the Monero crowd. Not worth commenting on.
