Sending ZEC to binance

Binance has some problem for accepting zec to their tex address. They rejected deposit and my Zec is being withheld.

I copied the address from binance portfolio wallet and pasted it to the zashi

Hm, that seems to be whats explained here:

Any insight @decentralistdan @andrea @aquietinvestor why this wouldn’t work?

did the wallet have TEX in front?

well there lies the problem. that is still a normal transparent address sadly not the TEX one :anguished:

They might have accepted if i did sent from a t address, my bad, its been a while i sent zec to binance. Do they charge for refund? Any idea? How long it will take.

I just changed the topic, it was my fault though, thank you guys

I think you could have sent from shielded with Zashi, but the Binance deposit address would have to start with TEX for Zashi to recognize it and do the transfer through a T automatically for you.

Yes, i was bit careless, worried on the zec, am i getting it back, since i sent from a sheilded address

Okey, they agreed to send my zec back, provided t address in zashi. Binance chat support is super cool and they are very friendly.

Things I learned: Always use transparent balances to send to binance or probably to any CEX. Use Zashi only if the exchange address is tex, because it is shielded by default. Always check how the address begins to check t or z.

Can somebody approach binance to modify their warning screen. They should mention only transparent address is accepted and whether they have activated the tex or not.

Its high time that we need an in app dex on zashi.

This is only the case for Binance. Gemini, Kraken, Coinbase, etc… all let you send from your Z to their T address. Gemini will actually send directly to your Z address from the exchange.

Personally I don’t use Binance at all because of how they treat Zcash, I use Gemini instead.

Gemini is not availbale in my country yet

this again shows the problem that we have with all those different types of addresses! if a community member is still making mistakes like this, imagine what kind of troubles someone without any experience with zcash is facing.

and on top of that, ahead of doing a transaction, the user needs to figure out what kind of wallets support transparent or shielded transactions. this is not user friendly!

i know some in here will disagree, but for outsiders this is a complete mess.
we would not have all these troubles if we would go the shielded route.

we are building solutions for something that could be solved by going shielded only. WHY? because we fear that the regulator is coming after us and is taking away the salary that is paid in USD.

Yes, the learning curve is a bit different from using other things, but I believe we are on a path to improve and make zcash more user-friendly. We have come a long way and all the hiccups are part of the journey. The most beautiful thing about zcash is its continuous development and it is better each day.

but still its mostly binance whos the problem here tho.

they should just replace all user addys with TEX and it would be way better already

as someone who lives in germany, kraken delisted ZEC, and i think it is just a question of time when other exchanges will do the same for their european customers.

the end goal is clear, they will try to ban crypto currencies with strong privacy all around the world. and they will succeed on CEX’s, because all it takes are a few bad events that they can easily create by themself.

so the question is not if, but when will it happen. therefore we should think on how much time and effort we are putting in trying to fix all those issues to please exchanges.

another thing to note is, we are actually hurting people here. we are are reducing financial privacy with all those transparent transactions.

so honest question, why are we not going the shielded route?
