On December 4th 2025, I issued a simple challenge to the Zcash community: pass 1 ZEC to a person you trust in order to prove that this community is strong, active and principled.
In the meantime, the experiment turned out to be really successful: the 1 ZEC that I passed to @Taowser has also reached 19 other people. The list includes distinguished community members @zerodartz @zkcroc @BostonZcash @abdel @shieldedmark @shielded-nate , alongside others whom I couldn’t find on this forum.
Along every step, torch bearers have added 0.01 ZEC to the amount and also made sure to include their name in the transaction memo. With every passing of the torch, bearers must choose between keeping the money at the expense of their reputation, or adding glory and honor to their name.
As the amount grows, the temptation to steal increases too. On the other hand, as the list becomes longer the club of honorable community members becomes more prestigious.
Cordially, the torch has also been referred to as the “ZEC hot potato”. Which I think is a funny name, but it sort of diminishes the greater purpose.

Anaximander reached out to me asking for help, as he ran out of trusted people and he doesn’t want this torch to get stolen.
So if any honorable community member would like to take this torch, please post a reply under Anaximander’s tweet. Let’s get this to 100 torch bearers, make history for the community and maybe receive news coverage too!
