Hello, Zcashers!
I write this full of frustration, anger and sadness. I apologize in advance.
And I am accompanied by these feelings because of what is happening in my country, which is public and notorious in all the world’s media.
I post here because I feel it is a safe place, where I can express myself openly with all of you, who understand the power of Zcash. I cannot say any of this on my blog, or on my social media profiles, as I have been subjected to intimidation and extortion by police officers in my country. If I say anything against the dictatorship, they will surely come knocking on my door again.
In Venezuela, more than ever, we need Zcash!
I see with terror and sadness how people are being arrested and some disappear, because they are being followed in their bank accounts, in their social networks, or in their fiscal and financial records. Many people in my country are not aware of the level of control and surveillance we suffer here.
On the other hand, I am very pleased that there are people from abroad trying to help us, informing or donating to foundations and causes that seek to protect the imprisoned protesters, but those donations are made through a financial system that the dictatorship can easily track. This is where the power of Zcash comes into play so that these donations can continue to reach and help those who need it most.
I have become an activist for privacy, freedom and security, thanks to Zcash and understanding the power of its technology, but we cannot be publicly visible in this country. Venezuela is on the same level as North Korea, Russia, Cuba or Nicaragua in terms of repression and monitoring of people and organizations that openly express their discontent with the political system in power.
For all those who fear exposure, there is Zcash.
For all those who want to continue helping their relatives from abroad, there is Zcash.
For all those who want to continue organizing and resisting, receiving funds from abroad, Zcash is the solution.
I ask you to please keep an eye on what is happening in Venezuela. Those of us here will continue to try, as far as we can, to raise awareness and teach as many people as possible about the many benefits of using a tool that prevents dictatorships and authoritarian governments from tracking, monitoring and controlling us.
Remember this beautiful image of the Zcon4?
I would like to ask the graphic designers of this community to make an effort to design images alluding to Venezuela, freedom, privacy and financial security, to be used and distributed in digital media. Do it in any language you wish, because I know the images will speak for themselves.
And when you share them on social media, let’s use the hashtag #ZcashSupportsVzla. It would be a nice gesture from all of you to read us through that hashtag.
Thank you, and excuse me for using the forum for this, but I fear for my safety, and I can’t talk openly about this. My private messages are open for those who want more information or details of what is happening in my country.
Thank you all!
