I’m sharing this here because I think it’s important for the whole community. This happened to me just 2 days ago.
I have created a fundraising campaign to travel for Spain, as I have been invited by a couple of organizations that have seen my work and content from Zcast and the Zingo workshops we have given.
They have gifted me the tickets, but I don’t have the funds to pay for the airfare and accommodation.
@gordonesTV I applaud you and @AuraBritoSM for all of your efforts and your willingness to step forward even more! You are stars and your work is clearly paying off. It’s much needed. I keep hearing how people haven’t seen Zcash for a while in public spaces, and from many more that are just hearing about it for the first time. Boots-on-the-ground evangelism and education are so important.
While ECC does not typically provide grants, we are willing to cover about $50% of your travel costs, up to $4k in ZEC. I’m hoping that other Zcashers and perhaps the other orgs are willing to chip in to get you to 100% in short order. My only ask is that you document the trip and share back about what happened and what you learned.

I am honored by your words. We are so grateful for the receptiveness of this, which came so quickly and spontaneously that I’m still amazed.
Of course! Our commitment is to not only attend events, but to meet new people, tell them about Zcash and establish valuable contacts who can reach out to our ecosystem and become interested in any of the aspects of Zcash.

Now, I have sent 1.2192 ZEC to you so I can say that one thing in here without feeling too bad:
I wish the dev fund could be used for this, instead of us participating individually. Helping @gordonesTV is actually beneficial to the whole network. Which is why I see the inflation on our tokens as a much better mechanism so we can all chip in together into those types of win-win types of spending.
I would like to tell you that so far we have raised 45% of the stipulated amount for this campaign.
With this we have already been able to purchase the airline tickets and accommodation for the 2 events in Barcelona.

We have received public and anonymous donations, but with very optimistic and motivating messages.
On September 22nd we will be flying from Venezuela to Spain, and we will be telling you about all the incidents, we want to talk to everyone there about Zcash! And we are even thinking that we can organize some kind of meetup or informal meeting, to attract enthusiasts to meet and talk about Zcash, but we will know that when we arrive and adjust the agenda.
